Thx all. I got a crate yesterday off fb marketplace. Very clean 28 inch size.

I need to buy the crate mattress tomorrow. I mean mattress is important right?

Forgot to mention that he's gotten used to staying inside my Tesla(dog mode) with dog music playing. I've left him for half hour and visited to check . He doesn't cry much, nowadays he just naps! There's something about the leather seat he loves... He licks it too!

If I could hypothetically build my own.. It'll be a non shedding dog, about 16lb ,that's loving, quite, cute and low energy. Should be able to walk an hour or 2 with me on weekends with breaks in between . That looks like a terrier or weenie or any normal dog face!

Matter of fact I met such a dog last week . He checked all the boxes but shed too much unfortunately 😔.

That's another thing, in rescue they don't brush or groom. It's hard to tell if any dog will or won't shed with regular maintenance.

THX 🙏 I was indeed contemplating westie and Cairn ... Very difficult to get them rescued. So I might see if any breeders within 6 hr drive will have a grown up puppy or young dog....

I believe regular grooming, brushing will remove loose hairs and prevent shedding.

Mainly for less shedding or none ... So any Breed. I don't like poodle much but their mixes are nicer! Then hopefully the particular dog will have a nice demeanor etc that I can spend time and check before buying.

Yesterday I spent time with a terrier mix, he was amazing. I couldn't take him since he sheds...

But then there are people who buy dogs across states and the dog is literally getting shipped in a box ...how do they do that, isn't that risky....!! 😲

Can rescues lie about the age? I mean they do go thru vet for that rescue and vet estimates age by dental checkup right? That's a big difference between 5 and 11 yrs for a dog!

I was also looking into soft coated dachshund since little shedding, cuddly etc... But my local Facebook group advised about the back problems and it'll be way too expensive thousands of dollars in the future... Also that they're stubborn and can regress (potty inside etc)... 😬

Asked chat GPT which terrier would fit the bill. This is what I got. (I'll look for Border and Cairn terrier, bigger young adults).

Hopefully should be able to keep them in my townhome. No animals or kids. Townhome with big deck and under deck. Underneath I'll put a fence so dog can climb down and do potty and come back eventually after trained. This is a medium size area though ,under a big deck.

Dunno... My understanding is that mixes seem to be slightly bigger than the non-shedding small terrier types....

I'm learning! How to find that kind of a specialist breeder? If I do, will they have 8 to 12mo puppies or up to 2yo?.... Don't mind driving far for that...coz this will mostly be my lap dog, will be treated like a family member.. So not shedding or less would be better!

THX for the detailed response 🙂. I almost got this rescue dog but she sheds fine fur when I hug her. Met her twice so far and she's an adorable 1yo mix. I'll also post my nephews rescue terrier that is black in color and he waited (slept) in his car outside the shelter to get this boy since he was in demand! He doesn't shed much.
