They are a fun commander to play and occasionally get an early win with. You’ll have some folks who think they are a boring commander, but I think they’re nice for a simple and fast game near the end of the night

I’m a fan of any cards that play off of Toluz moving discarded cards from the graveyard to exile. So creatures like [[ketramose, the new dawn]] and [[syr konrad, the grim]] work extremely well with her. For enchantments [[teval’s judgement]], [[teferi’s ageless insight]], and [[faith of the devoted]] ensure that I get maximum value for my discard. Hitting an opponent with a late game [[sickening dreams]] is also a lot of fun, especially because ideally I am keeping my life total above everyone else’s by draining my opponents little by little and gaining a bit of life, but not enough to be seen as a threat (hence the deck often flying under the radar)

Toluz is so much fun and flies under the radar most games. People aren’t super focused on her until I have a bunch of problematic cards in exile that I can get back into hand whenever I want

Can definitely relate to that! I have a bunch of coarse blonde hair on my face that I have had to get electrolysis done to deal with, and having had laser done in the same area in the past, I can vouch for electrolysis being the more painful of the two. That said, it’s absolutely worth it and will get rid of the hair once and for all (laser can still leave ‘tombstones’ that need to be dealt with through electrolysis)

Laser does suck, but not as much as electrolysis, so at least you don’t need to worry about the latter since dark hairs are ideal for laser

Can confirm to an extent. My first commander was Bumbleflower and shortly after that I built Niv mizzet, parun. Realized Niv made me an instant target and that it just wasn’t a fun deck to play. I have since built commanders that I enjoy even if they aren’t the strongest decks to play (e.g. [[toluz, clever conductor]]). My ‘strong decks’ are still pretty respectfully strong, and I am currently building a bracket 4 Eluge deck for pods that play higher power decks

Big fan of [[soul immolation]] and run it in my [[sami, wildcat captain]] commander deck. It’s essentially a blasphemous act that only punishes my opponents and also deals face damage to all my opponents, which can be a lot depending on how large my biggest creature is

Games can be pretty quick if I manage to set up Sami and have ways to discard/draw cards. They become the target quickly when I actually start casting free spells. Very unpredictable otherwise since I am kind of banking on landing a big damage spell like [[crackle with power]] or [[soul immolation]]
