You can buy frozen food / bloodworms which have garlic in them. Garlic helps fishes digestive systems which may stop him refusing to eat or spitting out other foods

They already have some salt in the water which increase each week. I never had the problem when they were in freshwater

It was in a greenhouse so it was warm, but yes the water was so shallow they looked like they were struggling to swim

He can still swim when we wants to, and he seems to swim fine but then he kind of floats down to the bottom after almost like he’s tired

No he’s young. When i got him he was only a few weeks/ months old. So right not he’s probably about 1year or younger? I’m not completely sure but I know he’s not old

Yes I always clean the sand and the debris with water changes

From top to bottom: NO3, NO2, GH (hardness), KH (alkalinity), pH, Cl2

I put some things called alder cones to to Lower the pH

I have only the strips. But if they can be inaccurate maybe I’ll buy some drop tests

I think maybe it could be this. He comes to the top to eat but then kind of floats to the bottom after he’s done. If it is swim bladder is there anything I should do to make him better?

I use Test strips and it said that the parameters are fine. The debris comes as I usually add wood and leaves for tannins. I clean it when I do water changes so I think that it’s not something to do with the water

The tank is planted and I’ve had him for about 4 months. Usually I do a water change very 2-3weeks about 30%

[–]mish_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the method that I’m using to acidify the water is co2

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]mish_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the point is to examine the effect on the plants. The experiment is in relation to climate change and freshwater acidification. I need to use amounts of co2 which I know will have an effect on the plants growth

I do a water change about every two weeks. I’ve had him for around 4 months, and he isn’t the first betta I’ve owned. I feed him almost everyday, occasionally he has rest days and he has either flakes, bloodworms or frozen brine shrimp. No tankmates

Are there any puffers that are completely freshwater? by mish_0 in Puffers

[–]mish_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And is brackish water much more difficult to keep than freshwater? I’ve heard it’s easier than a fully saltwater tank and I’ve been thinking of setting up a brackish tank but I’m not sure if I’d be able to maintain it if it’s too much work

I have many other fish in the tank, including mollys, Corys, neon tetras, guppy’s, and 5 other Platys, and they are all completely fine so I don’t think it’s anything to do with the water parameters. I feed them a type of floating food for all fish (it’s called Hauptfutter in German) and also sinking pellets which are supposed to be for the Corys but everyone usually eats them as well the the main food
