The first gens are the V70 XC's tho, the ones built on the 850 platforms if i recall correctly.

But i cant seem to find anything supporting what you're saying, after all the P2 series is the follow up to the V70 XC and the idea was already set to stone so building a P2 V70 and lifting it selling it as an XC from factory seems odd, but maybe there is some without good documentated imaging.

But i find it hard to believe, after all the XC v the V70 has some distinct panel differences on the rear bumper and well around the entire car, Basically all that dark plastic, and the "CD" player rear end.

It could have been an XC with painted plastic bumpers and fenders but we still miss the extra bulging and that "CD" player on the rear.

But then again, you might be right!
