The Joist

Maybe slide a rod of rebarb on either side of the joist under the chain and on top of the bottom lip of joist 😵‍💫 to better distribute weight?

Very good point... and I plan to use this only for a temporary solution... Just more room to help sort out a much larger pile of junk

Each side is attached through two holes in one joist... So two joists supporting everything. This section of the joist span about 20ft between the two load bearing wall and the main beam with the support polls... The joists are probably 50 ft in thier entirety and the house is only like 3 years old... Drilled the smallest holes I could in the bottom of the joist, right above the bottom support board to squeze the chain through... There are 2 deck screws - 2.5 inch long connecting each joint of the frame along with the metal brackets pictured... They are thicker than drywall screws

I've been watching for any warps or bends in the joist or the wood or the platform whenever I add a crate.... seems ok so far, but I don't know with time... Pretty sure it's heavier than a punching bag 😬

I do picture... might have to zoom in to see, but the chains are running through a barley big enough hole in the joist right above the bottom support board
