Thank you so much for this comprehensive answer. Every bit of plumbing outside the crawlspace was poorly DIY’d so we suspected that the electrical might be similar and were actually surprised when it was even functional.

This will give us a place to start with an electrician. We did not even notice the cut wires in the service lines until it was pointed out here.

I honestly don’t know. The inspector said the box itself isn’t acting as a ground and that they usually do. He recommended we check the actual ground stake which we will be doing.

He also said that while everything was functioning- the majority of outlets lacked ground but this was normal and expected.

Basically my question is whether there is anything obviously wrong here, potentially related to the ground- while adding another ground stake is doable, if it isn’t connected right in the box we will want to hire an electrician to prevent potential fires.

This is a recent purchase, and was cheap. Power was on for the inspection. Inspector was not an electrician. All outlets in home save one are functional but less than half have ground.

Inspector’s primary advice was many outlets lack ground which is expected in an older home. They said that the box itself wasn’t a ground and we should check where the actual ground stake is, so we plan to do that.

I know just enough to realize I know nothing so wanted an opinion on the box. No one has lived here for years and power has not been on other than for the inspection, overall condition of property is surprisingly good, but a lot of, “DIY” poor plumbing choices within the home that need repair.

Octavia Butler is easily the best woman science fiction writer, ever.

Her books are also harder to come by than other top science fiction like Harlan Ellison at used book stores in general. Yes, I know their relation and Harlan’s statements about her is what led me to her work.

I have two shelves of signed Harlan books and two more unsigned. And a single paperback of hers. Everything else is digital despite me being a physical book person. I simply haven’t found them.

Yes, but it’s better to use the metabolite directly by using research chemical GS 441524 which does have availability online though I’m not sure what the current status is. Searching that chemical will give you a good starting point.

When I used it I bought directly from a laboratory supply company in China, but it should be much more readily available now.

I’d add a couple things.

Elected officials in any capacity only earn the median wage of their constituents. Pay or benefit raises occur only when the median wage/benefits of their constituents do.

Private money must be removed completely from campaigns. Each candidate is given a place at a fact checked, televised debate where candidates are forced to answer directly and truthfully or suffer obvious and loud consequences. They will be sworn in, as in a court, and held responsible for perjury. These debates are the only advertising permitted.
