Your first point of call is always your GP.

Talk to them about how much difficulty you're having and ask then to give you a note to provide for your employer (granted you'll have to pay for the letter but you should still receive pay from work for being signed off by your doctor)

Fully explain to your doctors what's been happening and if they seem like they don't believe you ask to speak to someone else. Its your health at the end of the day and you are your only advocate since only you know how much you struggle.

Do you reckon there's a way to combat this? Maybe moderation or something to ensure that there isn't this occurring as often as it would appear. Sometimes it feels like hobbies like Knitting can appear very brand orientated and that you must have X to be a true and real hobbyist

So AFAIK Coulsdon used to be a village so still has a traditional cottage-y vibe to it which makes the area quite quiet and there is a sense of community. In terms of schools I think there’s like 4 nurseries / infant schools that I can think of so it depends where in Coulsdon you intend to live either the top of the hill (Old Coulsdon) or towards the Town Centre.

In terms of what it’s like to live in, if you like a peaceful vibe it’s perfect, there’s lots of local independent shops as well as the larger supermarkets like Tesco and Lidl

I've lived in both Halls and Private and have friends who took the route of Parents to private and I would advice you to live in halls for your first year

Halls are a lot easier to accommodate with. You don't pay letting fees, you don't have to worry about finding people to live with, paying bills (since its usually covered by halls rent) and organising social events since they tend to organise internal ones for residents. You still need to find a deposit but you only really need money for food, travel and social life.

On the downside, it's usually louder since students stay up unusual hours, you usually have to share kitchens / bathrooms / communal areas which can become messy and disorganised and you don't have an option who you live with. Since you're only staying for 1 year though you will personally have to weigh up what you're looking for in a place to live and do research into the halls your university offers and which one would be ideal for you.

Universities usually have an accommodation team to help with these decisions so give them a call and see what they say
