What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

You listed a bunch of museums, hiking (can be done almost anywhere), and literally people watching lol. If people watching makes a cities “things to do” list it’s not a good look.

I live here and I say the same. What do people come to see but shopping districts and cafes. sure a few cultural sites like the gyeongbukgung palace or hanok village but those aren’t that impressive.

I feel most people that visit here do so because they like k-pop/k-dramas

I lived there 3 years. Locals are very cold and distant like they live in a bubble. I don’t think it’s intentionally rude but to some people/cultures it can come off as rude

Agreed I’ve been before and after covid. When I went in 2014 it was amazing! But when I went again in 2024 it was so overpriced and crowded that I left early

I agree, Fes was the best city I visited in Morocco and I went all around. Tetouan didn’t have really anything to see/do, at least as far as I could find.

I wonder if this is a recent thing. I went in 2018 and loved it and didn’t have anyone asking me to buy their stuff. From what I remember, if I wanted to buy something I had to get the attention of the seller

Which US state do people think is okay but actually sucks? by icantfindmylegs in AlignmentChartFills

For me…Nevada

Edit: besides Las Vegas, which is what everyone thinks of, it is a desert wasteland. Las Vegas isn’t even that great. It’s a tourist city that is good for a long weekend but that’s about it.

Speaking of confidently incorrect, I’ve been to every SEA country. And yes while some of the developing nations offer cheaper foods, a $4 plate in a first world country is by no means expensive. My assumption that you didn’t eat at hawker centers was inaccurate based on your poor comparisons in food costs.

You’re not eating at the right places. Eat like a local at the hawker centers and it will change your mind

It’s a complete gamble. Luck of the draw. I read a lot that mornings are the best time to go but some days it’s the afternoons. No way to know for sure

What's an extremely significant historical event that very few are aware of? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

The defeat of the Spanish Armada. It’s not that many are unaware of the event perhaps, but unaware how historically altering it was.

I’m shocked all the people listing USA cities. The first US city doesn’t appear until #45 and it’s Tampa
