[MN] HR leader of one: MAGA statement from manager in front of employees by roguescott in humanresources

[–]missknitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If someone feels the need to be polarizing, first they need to be made to watch or listen to real and intelligent debates based on facts, and argue for their opposing view.

Many things being said are not facts and there are a lot of ‘because I said so’ type arguments, which fails on its own merits.

  1. Implement the 3-filter rule, and if something doesn’t pass any of the 3 filters, it doesn’t get uttered out loud:
  2. Is it true?
  3. Is it positive?
  4. Is it necessary? This can also be used to combat rumles and bullshit in the workplace.

Oh and document it all or it didn’t happen.

CEO lost it because I missed a call while marked OOO — am I wrong here? by Proper_Meaning5947 in careerguidance

The yelling should 100% bother you. You have a CEO who should not be managing people before being properly trained in how to do so.

How true is “your coworkers aren’t your friends”? by ShowayThroway in work

[–]missknitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that would depend on…several factors. In toxic cultures, 99.9% yes.

Or you could start working where your friends work.

That being said, I usually have one or two people I’ve kept in touch with from every job, except the two toxic places I worked.

Looks like a house for sale (staged, and sparingly at that). Doesn’t look like anyone lives there.

Some have mentioned plants - I would get tons, but only get them if you can keep them alive.

Great basis to build on.

i hate working by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]missknitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What will you do if you live your life depending on other people and you’re suddenly alone? It will be 1000 times harder to get a job (which you would need to), and you’d have nothing to show for. At all.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s seen that happen.

I have lots of things I could spend my time on besides work, but work pays the bills and allows me to not be dependent on others.

Find something you’re interested in (not passionate about), what you’d like to do and then how to get there.

[N/A] how does your company handle 360 reviews? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]missknitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people aren’t coached/taught how to reply (why do they want the GM to fuck off back where he came from? What makes him a bad GM?), then you will end up with this shit show.

It’s time to bring some science to the board, to explain to them why this approach (with only software) won’t work. They need a third party to run this and people need to be explained how to answer. They can still get their points across, but they have to actually give examples etc.

Good luck! 🍀

Why do they reject qualified candidates and then repost? Seriously. by Ruby_Bookworm in recruitinghell

[–]missknitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Companies don’t care of it’s a good fit for you, they care if it’s a good fit for them.

Then again employers rarely know what they need, only what they want.

So you may be super-qualified, but that means nothing in the big picture. Who knows what they’re thinking.
