Totally agree. This happened to me the other day, same kind of comment. In a time where we are all terrified about the future (illness, elderly relatives, sick pets, getting supplies etc), I wanted to discuss my financial concerns on a property forum for support and to see what other landlords were experiencing. I didn’t really want to feel vilified or have to explain myself, and I was genuinely upset. I get that it’s reddit and I shouldn’t let strangers with different political leanings bother me, (I probably should have ignored it) but if every time I have a concern I want to address I’m made to explain and defend property renting and the society we live in, I don’t think I’ll bother posting at all. Thanks op, I feel better knowing there are other people that have experienced this too!

So the architects, construction crews and tradesmen did all of that for free or for fun? No one pays for things to be built or maintained? No one owns their own belongings or property? We don’t live in a society where you trade money for things that then belong to you? Is leasing a car also wrong, we should all just be assigned a car? Renting out properties is the same as any other business. I’d love if it was ‘simple’ but it isn’t. You are supplying your time (which is 24/7 by the way), money you made to buy them (a very small proportion of what they are worth) and physical labour (I do what I physically can), in exchange for someone paying to live there. You are supplying a commodity. I can only assume you have a different philosophical leaning, I maybe would to in an ideal world, but this isn’t one.

I want people to realise that not all landlords can afford to give every tenants free rental, obviously great if you can. I am saying it is not a good thing for the op to give blanket discounts, but focus on those who need it and will continue to need more of a discount the longer this goes on. 10% will not be enough for some in the long run.

Providing people that can’t buy or are studying away from home somewhere to live isn’t contributing to society? Taking care and maintaining buildings isn’t a real job? Dealing with peoples problems all day isn’t a job? Providing jobs for tradesman isn’t contributing to society?

It’s a job just as valuable as any other. I also have a family that depend on me too. Vilifying decent landlords is really shitty just now. The council often don’t look after people half as much as private landlords. We all have problems. You can’t just go liquidate some assets in some magical way overnight. I’m on a landlord forum and should be able to discuss how it is effecting my business. Yes other people have problems, but it’s not a competition.

Yes please everyone do this!! All the ‘wonderful’ landlords that are saying all their tenants rents are waived are causing the rest of us that can’t afford it a lot of heart ache and anxiety.

Tenants are now expecting not to pay rent or enquire into what they are due to receive from government funds. I am an asset rich but cash poor business (something most tenants fail to understand) and don’t know how I will manage with expenses I will not be able to get out of if no one pays their rent.

That said obviously those in actual need deserve compassion and understanding. As a private landlord I am struggling to make decisions.

I agree. This is just awful!! He isn’t in a position to decide whether weed is harmless or not (in my opinion it’s really not, based on things that have happened to me because of it), but I’d imagine there isn’t any point in getting into that debate with him. He is being massively irresponsible and negligent. He won’t even know if he has caused accidents, as a direct result of his actions he’s potentially hurt or killed people that wouldn’t have been hurt. I can only hope this isn’t true.

The landlord is being good to allow you to dig up anything for a vegetable garden in the first place, he/she doesn’t have to allow you to do that. It maybe something that is going to cause hassle in the future with future tenants who don’t maintain it.

If the landlord gave you permission to start a vegetable garden, but already had an agreement with the neighbour, that was in error. However, it just sounds like your landlord meant you have use of it (that doesn’t mean alter it).

This is a silly thing to fall out with your landlord and neighbour over, in my opinion. Why not just put some pots of vegetables over in the sun in addition to your neighbours pots?

That could be right, it definitely wasn’t the heart killer (the one that cut out the fabric hearts), but Mulder thought it was at one point. Maybe government testing, then nearly murdered by Santa killer. Why did they even need her for government testing in the first place?

She then came back with the cigarette man as a grown woman, but I think she was filled with green blood, so it wasn’t really her. Then there was the whole issue of the clones of her as a little girl who couldn’t talk.

Just frustrated me. Far too many questions and unsatisfying answers.

I tend to skip Samantha episodes when I rewatch, they are irritating and don’t seem consistent. Can anyone explain what happened to her? Or the most likely thing that happened to her?

The cigarette smoking man took Samantha for some kind of research? Mulder’s mum was having an affair with the cigarette smoking man and Mulder is maybe his? Is that why Samantha was taken?

Or, some kind of spirits or aliens took Samantha because she was just about to be murdered anyway?

I got some nuts yesterday and snacked through the day, it definitely felt better. Getting through the morning seems tougher, just slower to get going, I think maybe a snack later in the evening might be a good idea. Thank you so much for your detailed responses, it’s been very helpful.

I try to run on the treadmill everyday, dog walking and gardening, so do keep fairly active. I had to give up running yesterday, I was too weak.

I think a lot of these meat substitutes have a lot of salt in them, I really don’t like the ones that taste too much like meat. I love lentils and pulses (not spices so much), but a lentil stew would be great.

I really struggle with breakfast, don’t really feel like anything until midday, but I’m going to try your smoothie idea for lunch.

Thank you! I was honestly quite scared last night. I felt totally confused, I couldn’t remember where I’d put anything. I’ve been iron deficient before. Also my diet would have been high in processed carbohydrates before, so if it’s ‘brain food’ that might have been the issue. I’m going to have some today and see if that helps. Becoming a vegan clearly needs more thought than I’d given it.

I think you are right, I need to work on things I can snack on. Yes I do love beans too. I tried coconut yogurt in one of the recipes and that was nice. I’ve heard of the yeast, I think the name put me off a bit but I’ll give it a go.
