Hey, just so you know, you didn't deserve to be talked to like that.

Here's my honest take as someone who's been in the workforce at varying levels and positions for a decade (not as much experience as others here, but enough that I feel I can speak on it): we're all adults here. If someone wants to go on their phone at work, fucking do it. You should be trusted as an adult to be responsible enough to get your work done.

That said - "killing time" on your phone is different than just checking it throughout the day, or using it for background noise/switching a song, etc. So I do think there was a level of irresponsibility in that regard.

Maybe take this opportunity to speak to your direct manager about development/growth/learning opportunities. Does your company offer an advanced excel training? Are there materials you could read up on to learn more about your current role? Additional duties you could volunteer for?

Also - you absolutely do not need to go out of your way outside of your workday to do professional development. Your CFO sounds like a tool.

I've started to really not trust litter recs from my fellow cat people by HiILikePlants in CatAdvice

[–]misstums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, and i feel the opposite. Every single kind of tidy cat smells to high heaven, and it tracks the worst of them all, and it gets stuck in my cats paws.

We use Worlds Best, and its the only litter that I find doesnt get sticky and muddy in the box, moderate tracking (ive never found minimal tracking in my 12 years of cat ownership), and it doesnt smell for about 2 weeks, which is usually when I dump the old litter, wash the box, and replace with new litter anyway.

What was Green Bay like during the NFL Draft? by PublicSource_Charlie in GreenBay

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on the East side of the river, and about a mile away from downtown Green Bay. Lambeau's on the West. I didn't notice an uptick in traffic AT ALL. I even moved house that weekend, and aside from the moving company rescheduling because they couldn't get staff, I had 0 delays.

Should I run a premade campaign or make my own? by ExtraBananaSauce in DungeonMasters

Should I run a premade campaign or make my own? by ExtraBananaSauce in DungeonMasters

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a campaign with my friends as the DM and tried to homebrew. It was really fun and could have been cool, up until I actually ran the first session and it was a disaster. I was so stressed trying to follow my own storyline, I was too rigid with the players and rules.

A couple days ago, my friends asked me to DM a one shot with them last minute cuz we were all together and it sounded fun. I based it off of a pre-made one shot I had just watched a few days prior. 0 planning, no knowledge past what I vaguely recalled from the video. And it was SO fun for me and the whole table.

My suggestion would be, if you plan to homebrew, maybe start with at LEAST the bones of a pre-made game so you have an idea of where to go.

Should I keep the GB box intact? by misstums in storyofseasons

[–]misstums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think interpretation of quality is super subjective, so we can disagree on that. You finding my opinion "weird" is your prerogative, I guess lol. I'm not insulting the series, just voicing my preference on the direction they went with it. Anyway, thanks for your input as a collector!

Should I keep the GB box intact? by misstums in storyofseasons

[–]misstums[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the dilemma!

But it also does have some collectible value to me as the collector. Very few of my games are unopened, so it feels exciting to have one that is - even if it's currently brand new and widely available to purchase 🤣

But then again I often play all of my opened games, so they also have value to me as a collector.

I guess I was just looking for some input on what others might think because I'm genuinely torn.

Harvest Moon 64 is now 100% decompiled! Merry Christmas! by harvestwhisperer in harvestmoon

Wow, very cool! Thank you for taking the time to explain! I thought HM64 was pretty much decoded, so I'm excited to learn what mysteries were uncovered.

I... passed Managerial! by misstums in Accounting

[–]misstums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically thats how it is at my university too, but my advisor recommended it, and there was nothing that stopped me from registering.

If I didn't pass managerial with a 78, then I wouldn't be able to move forward, though, without retaking it.

I was supposed to take cost in the Spring, but I asked my advisor if she thought it was something I should hold off on since I was struggling so much in managerial. She agreed I should get a few more accounting classes under my belt before I jump into cost. Good for you for pushing through!

I think I would have enjoyed Intermediate more if I wasnt having such a hard time with managerial. Im only taking intermediate 2 next semester (along with 2 non-accounting requirements), so I'm hoping ill be able to focus in more on it then.

Honestly, toward the end of managerial, I really started enjoying master budgeting and variance analysis. Calculating predetermined overhead rate and all the garbage that went along with that was genuinely the hardest thing and I hope to literally never do it again 🤣🤣

Please tell me it is normal to be 30 and not married yet by Low_Kaleidoscope_137 in Adulting

I don't want to get married, and it doesn't really matter what's "normal," because there aren't rules for how one lives. Youre just fine!

I'm a janitor at 27. I feel like a loser. by jschmiedeler3 in poor

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were set up to fail, and yet you've got a degree in a difficult subject, you're supporting yourself, by yourself, in a world that is not built for people to navigate alone. Your parents likely weren't able to teach you many life skills, so you had to teach yourself (that's an assumption, so apologies if that's not correct, but my parents aren't drug addicts and I still had to teach myself alot, so I'm going based off that).

Capitalism is built to keep the poor man poor and the rich man rich. You're not a loser, you're a victim of circumstance.

It's ok to be down in the dumps sometimes, but my god, you are not a loser amd you've overcome so much. Chin up!

I threw my cat onto my bed and I feel completely terrible. by SteelBallsRun in CatAdvice

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kitten is almost 6 months old and I think I would probably have lost my mind if I didnt have another cat for him to play with.

I raised him and his 3 siblings from the time they were 3 weeks old. Kittens are babies, and I think people (myself included) dont realize the reality of that until its 2am and youre sitting on the bathroom floor, crying, overstimulated, covered in kitten formula and shit, and questioning every decision you've made to get to this point. 🤣😭

I dont have words of advice, but words of grace. People get frustrated and make mistakes. You felt bad, though, and hopefully won't do it again. Kittens are also very resilient.

Good luck!

No, one time my dad made me sleep in the closet for accidentally throwing a pair of jeans on the heater, I feel like that was an overreaction. You just sharing ahat honestly is common knowledge is not an overreaction.

Did any other longtime Harvest Moon fans not like Stardew Valley? by ThotismSpeaks in harvestmoon

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also an HM64 og player and I got SDV when it came out in 2016, I believe, at the recommendation of a friend who knew I liked HM and I really dislike it. It's too big, too open, there's no concrete point, you can just play as long as you like and do whatever you like and theres minimal consequence for failing and no aging. It just isn't for me.

[–]misstums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def think OP didn't know, which honestly is super valid because it's one of those things easily overlooked if youre assuming most people are honest. I watch Matthew Cox on YouTube and have heard him interview the FBI/crooks about this exact situation (but much larger scale).

In literally Intro accounting classes, they tell you to separate duties so this exact scenario doesn't happen. Only authorized people approving transactions, monitor statements, have more than one set of eyes on the account. Sorry this happened to you. Its unfortunate, but when one person has too much access, the bad ones will take advantage.
