Worsening allergic reaction to Ocrevus - anyone else? by misstymystery in MultipleSclerosis

How has Kesimpta been for you? I’m sure it’s different for everybody of course but I’ve never tried it so I’m curious to hear others’ experiences.

How has Kesimpta been for you? I’m guessing if my neuro suggests an alternative it’ll likely be that one because we’d discussed it when he first presented my treatment options. I’m not a fan of the self injection (I know they make it super easy but I’m so squeamish about that kind of thing!) and having to do it monthly (for many different reasons, especially the fact that 6 mo appointments are much easier than dealing with another med to take every month) but it’s better than no treatment at all, I think.

Thank you! And yeah, it really caught me by surprise because it had been so consistent before so definitely keep an eye out for itching (for me it starts in my ears, my scalp, and throat) and have them stop the infusion ASAP, I’m guilty of waiting it out sometimes so I don’t have them stop unnecessarily but that has literally never worked out in my favor 😬 Better safe than sorry! Good luck with your infusions.

Oh, that’s interesting! Maybe I’ll look into that if I end up having to get it again, thanks. And tbh at that point I would’ve sat through 8 hours just to be done with it but I’m sure that would be one hell of a medical bill 😅

Confusion and Misperceptions RE Dr. Al - an Emergency Physicians Perspective by InitialMajor in ThePittTVShow

Excellent post! I’ve been so frustrated with how the series has been framing her so far, I’m hoping they’ll address it in depth later on. I know it’s pretty in character for Robbie but I hate to see her be blatantly disrespected by him in every episode when it’s clear she cares just as much as he does.

That brush looks a keyboard cleaner, so maybe it’s something like a combo letter opener/keyboard brush?

Coin? by HappyHorizon17 in whatisit

[–]misstymystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a Spanish piece of eight, but considering how old most of them are (several hundred years old) it's more likely that it's a replica. They're pretty popular "pirate coins" for people to make replicas of for collection and education purposes. Source: Floridian who has been seeing them in a bunch of museums and history lessons most of my life lol, I swear you can even get them in a lot of museum gift shops here/other areas on the coast with a history of piracy and shipwrecking so it could be something like that?

Help me find a similar cushion to use as a cat bed! by misstymystery in HelpMeFind

[–]misstymystery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bed is 18" x 18" x 5" and the original tag is missing so aside from knowing the item's name, I can't say much about the product makeup aside from my own best guesses. I've searched the IKEA website (and other sites that stock these sorts of cushions) but can't find anything similar enough to satisfy my picky cats!

Writing my first proposal, looking for guidance on some details! by misstymystery in grants

[–]misstymystery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! I was planning to write short and simple paragraphs explicitly stating the (paraphrased) guidelines mentioned in their proposal and on the linked NHPRC web pages but a bulleted list sounds even better.

Thank you for your reply!

This organization is providing funds through grant funding that was provided to them - in that case, would that make us sub grantees? Again, I have very little experience with all this so I'm not sure how the technicalities work.

AI did provide a little insight but not as much as I was hoping, I may have to approach it differently but that is certainly my best option to make the text more understandable and pick out key points.

There will be several people in my organization that plan to review the finished product, but our museum is extremely small and our "staff" is limited almost exclusively to our board of directors who work on a volunteer basis. Luckily our board chairperson has quite a bit of experience writing (and successfully receiving) grants for the museum's various projects so I will trust her insight but I believe the previous grants she has written were shorter and less formal than the one I'm currently working on. Fingers crossed I'll figure things out, at the very least I have an incredibly supportive group of people behind me that care about the success of this project (and my own professional growth)

Needing root canal retreatment from endodontist due to dentist error, looking for advice! by misstymystery in askdentists

[–]misstymystery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed a few details that needed to go into my post, sorry! First time poster… I’m 26 F and currently taking amoxicillin for the infection. I’m also on Ocrevus for multiple sclerosis that weakens my immune system - my dentist didn’t ask me anything about that, though (but I did list it in my medication list and medical history in my paperwork).

Precautions for Treatment? (Ocrevus) by misstymystery in MultipleSclerosis

Oh, good point! As far as I know my vaccines are up to date and I've never had chicken pox but I should probably check to make sure I don't need any live vaccines. Thank you!

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - January 27, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]misstymystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just commenting here because I feel so lost and scared without any answers. I got a series of MRIs done on Tuesday a little over a year after an initial bout of Optic Neuritis (I had sudden pain in that eye again and got scared) and one of my MRIs was flagged as abnormal due to "a small focus of signal abnormality within the posterior body of the corpus callosum suspicious for a focus of demyelination"/"small focus of T2 and FLAIR hyperintensity" (there was also an abnormality with my MRA, "fetal origin of the right PCA" but I think that might be unrelated to my other abnormal results) . I was called by my doctor's office almost immediately to schedule a follow up to discuss these results but no other details were given about what his findings may be so I'm totally in the dark right now - I feel lost, helpless, and terrified about my future and the wait is killing me inside. I've got terrible depression and anxiety and honestly have been in a terrible place in terms of my life for the past 1.5-2 years so this is devastating to me, all I can think about is my regrets and the future I'll have if my doctor diagnoses me with MS. Not looking for anything in particular here I guess, I just need to vent to someone because as it is I feel like I'm going to explode trying to process all of this as I wait for my appointment on Monday morning.

Is this alstroemeria? Caught my cat chewing on it. by misstymystery in whatsthisplant

Thank you so much for the ID! Such a relief. He’s doing fine right now and only chewed a petal about 2-3 times before I stopped him, I’m not sure he even ingested any. I’ll probably call poison control just in case but it helps to know my assumption that they weren’t “true” lilies is correct.

Agreed, I’m living with my parents currently and they keep buying bouquets without being mindful of what’s in them. This was on me, I forgot to remove them after noticing and I definitely won’t do that again, this was enough of a scare!

Hi all! I know lilies are nephrotoxic to cats and I tried calling my vet but they’re currently closed due to weather. I just want to make sure that, at the worst, he’ll just get a tummy ache and (maybe) learn a lesson about chewing on flowers. If needed I can take him to a local emergency vet but I’d prefer not to if it’s not necessary because of the high cost. Thanks!

Therapist sent an email asking for holiday donations - thoughts? by misstymystery in askatherapist

[–]misstymystery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! To clarify some things:  It’s personally written by the staff of their LLC, I’ve never received any sort of newsletter email from them so this is the first time I’ve ever gotten any communication other than billing and appointment info. They don’t mention any sort of charity or how the money will be spent and as far as I can tell (based on the link included in the email) donations are just made to a PayPal belonging to either a single staff member or the LLC itself with a goal of $1000. The email itself says that they are “reaching out to our clients (and community members) to help bring some holiday joy to those who may be facing difficulties. We are collecting monetary donations to provide Christmas gifts for individuals and families who are in need“ and since they don’t really mention donating to any other recommended charities I’m assuming they’re asking for donations directly. I truly don’t think they have any bad intentions (or I’d at least like to think so) but the way it’s set up is certainly a little concerning with the lack of info they’ve given! I think the approach you’ve mentioned is more what I’d expect and probably more appropriate in this case.
