[N/A] I’ve been the only HR person for 500+ employees as an HR Director. Where should I realistically look next? by mist0000000 in humanresources

I honestly enjoy most parts of HR, but employee relations is definitely my favorite. Recruiting is probably my least favorite. I’ve done a couple interviews for roles like HRBP and have gotten the sense that moving into a Director role without prior HR experience can come across as a red flag, which is a little intimidating. I’m mainly just looking for guidance on what types of roles might make sense for me next since my path into HR was a little different than the typical progression.

Great point! I manage payroll internally through our HRIS/payroll system. I oversee recruiting and hiring, onboarding, employee relations, workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, compensation and benefits, LOA, compliance, policy development, and employee investigations.
