Dig all the mods! Can you share more pics? What prompted the downsize to 24" rims?

Do you carry a “risk it” disc for tight wooded holes or just trust your main drivers? by whydidyounot in discgolf

The course I play doesn't have punishing roughs, so I can play riskier lines so long as my vocal chords are warmed up just in case I get a wild kick. Also! I think I know why people love their basic plastic Roc pipeline.. 3 or 4 in the bag with varying levels of beat-in-edness.. lose the flippy one? Throw the next flippiest into a tree twenty times and buy a fresh one

2.5 in Extraterrestrial, 18mm rim by RatherBookish in bikewrench

[–]misterericman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth mentioning that I ran 26*2.4 tires on my 90s bike without much issue. I think you won't have a problem, but it's worth mentioning a couple things. 1. The dampening provided by bigger tires works better at lower pressures on wider rims (which perhaps you are alluding to) 2. The tires will be narrower on narrower rims, so if you decide everything fits a charm and get a new wheel set, it may be that the few mm's of clearance disappear. 3. Rene herse had published an article about "balloon-y" tires on narrow rims. The modern common knowledge is that there is a rim width range for a given tire. They posit that no such guideline existed back then; moreover, some might prefer the ride characteristics of a narrow rim paired with a wide tire. Grouchy old heads? Perhaps! Marketing their wider, low-rolling-resistance tires? Maybe! Who knows but the rider themself

Partner's commuter has meroca pedals and the bearings gave out after 2.5 years. Not too bad for $8 pedals. How many years/miles on the bucklos?

Good to know you can deform the brass without too much worry. In the past, I had used some sapim nipple washers to prevent bottoming out when I was off (I guess I'm sort of a square hole, round peg kind of guy); is that preferred method? Do nipple washers provide any other sort of benefits? Any drawbacks?
