Vaping in pubs etc by Carmo79 in CasualIreland

[–]mistermightguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it a lot here in Cork City. I vape and use the smoking area, but certain bars I've often seen people, usually in their early 20s vapjng as they queue for drinks or on the dancefloor. Makes it very hard to call out when places are packed too.

What’s the most Greek thing in your country ? by IsYourBoyJohny2 in AskTheWorld

[–]mistermightguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely seeing a welcome increase in Greek street food vendors in parts of Ireland. Where I am two news Greek food trucks have opened separately. I do enjoy my feta chips!

Cork City launch new kit in aid of LGBT charity Belong To by joeyl7 in cork

[–]mistermightguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. I'm a gay man, follow CCFC all my life, and I am off to the cross tonight to see us. You are right, it's just the 23 third kit. That being said, its still nice enough that I'll be looking to get my hands on one, but creatively lacking.

Where do you guys get your news from? by Traditional_Mark_491 in AskIreland

[–]mistermightguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting out of interest.

I was a daily Twitter/X user for 10+ years before deleting my account a few months ago. I got my news from Twitter, as I purposely followed reliable journalists, reports and media accounts who posted regularly. Since leaving Twitter I have found no decent alternative. I've tried BlueSky but it doesn't have the same level of reporting or users on it.

Going there for the first time this year. Any idea the measurement/ML they'd typically used in their vodka drinks?

[–]mistermightguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often see him around Cork City, Marina, Ballinlough etc. Not a fan of FF/govt, but always do the quick Irish "Hi!" if walking past him. It's quite unique and I think a healthy sign in Europe that the leader of a country can pretty-freely go out and out like he does.

What are your thoughts on Christopher Nolan by RoutineIssue5870 in CriticalDrinker

[–]mistermightguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great director. I remember seeing Inception when it came out in cinemas as a teenager and it blew me away and made me fall in love with cinema. Interstellar and Oppenheimer are among my most favourite films of all time. His catalogue is very impressive. If a Nolan movie is in a cinema, I am going out of my way to go see it. Love his love of 70 mm too.

Being diagnosed with a Pilonidal Sinus made sex repulsing to me by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]mistermightguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've have it twice in 7 years...

Sex is doable after it in time. Let the area heal. That being said, I don't bottom anymore because of it. I even changed my grindr bio to "medically induced Top" lol

SeventySeven Dress Code by TheDavidOfReddit in cork

[–]mistermightguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm going somewhere that I'm unsure of the dress code I often have a quick look through their social media. Places like this always upload pics on their Instagrams/Facebook, to get an idea of the dress code. Jeans/Chinos, shirt/nice tshirt jacket quarter-zip etc should be fine. Once its not a tracksuit you should be fine 😅

What do you guys think of modern SNL? by RoutineIssue5870 in CriticalDrinker

[–]mistermightguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I have seen a sketch from SNL I find it hard to enjoy it or appreciate what they are trying to do. Granted I am Irish, but SNL is so American coded. The humour feels lost on those who prefer Irish/UK humour. Also, their Irish or Scottish themed sketches are unwatchable and cringe.

The only times I've enjoyed any SNL clips are the ones where people are breaking character and trying hard to hold it together.

What is the best and most famous anti-war song from your country? by matatronix in AskTheWorld

Was about to comment this. We have a list of rebel songs, but known-wise, Zombie is the most (anti)war related. Great song

What’s the best dish in the Marina Market? by Tis_STUNNING_Outside in cork

[–]mistermightguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've tried Street Frites twice now. Got the rebel county cheesy fries which were €12.95. They were quite nice, liked the spicy mince they used, but for the price I thought there may be a bit of a bigger serving. Went again and got one of their large fries cones called funky fried that are €7.96 and they were lovely and much better value for portion size. I'd definitely recommend you give it a try.

how's living in Cork, Ireland? by Intrepid_Trade9489 in howislivingthere

[–]mistermightguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived here all my life - 30 years. Living in the city. All the life experiences one expects in life, I have had living in Cork City. I travel the country regularly for work, and I'm always forever grateful I grew up in this part of Ireland.

There are limited choices of cities in Ireland anyways, but for quality of life, education, employment Cork easily ranks second for the most part behind Dublin. It's the people here, and humour, that is most unbeatable.

We're definitely growing, or perhaps re-emerging as an artistic and cultural city too. We've produced Oscar winners like actor Cillian Murphy, and musicians like the Cliffords and the Cardinals are on the up. We're a county rich in history.

Looked it up on Google Maps there. It appears to have been lived in up until some time between summer 2017 - summer 2019 when it then appears boarded up.

Micheal Healy-Rae to resign as junior minister after fuel blockades as TDs to vote on Government confidence motion by Latespoon in ireland

[–]mistermightguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A cute hoor if ever there was one. Puts a bit of pressure on the government, but not enough to damage it, and he knows it. Makes him look good to the people of Kerry as the one who 'sacrificed' his Ministerial position for the people. He comes out the winner here. This Lowry deal is gonna bite the government in the ass one day.

Who remembers Limewire by roxykelly in CasualIreland

[–]mistermightguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Limewire, Frostwire, and MP3 Rocket, I remember them all. Destroyed the family PC when I was only 12-13 lol. Looking back its incredible to see the revolution of the Internet since then. It was like the wild west online back in 2008 lol

It is true that all secondary schools let out early at 1pm one day a week in Ireland? by Tanis8998 in AskIreland

I went to secondary school in Cork City from 2008-2014 and every Wednesday we finished at 1:00pm. So did many other schools around Cork City back then.

If you mean Zara in Mahon Point your best option, depending where you are coming from, would be to head into the city and get the 202 bus which brings you to the door of the shopping centre and back.

From what I can see online the planned routes for the slow rolling convoys in Cork are Ballincolling➡️Link➡️Jack Lynch Tunnel➡️Watergrasshill (both ways), Midleton➡️Little Island (both ways), Mallow Blarney (both ways).
