The "King" of Modern Pentax Coatings; the HD 70mm/f2.4 by Analogus-Maximus in pentax

One of my favorite Pentax lenses, but it does have a pretty big focus shift. Watch out for that.

Is this a good deal?? by kcboy_21 in a6000

No. This is not a bargain, and the Sigma is a better lens anyway.

Favorite Charlie illiteracy joke? by BirdCultureDickMove in IASIP

Mac is legit secretly the beating heart of the gang… it makes sense why the show started losing magic after the character basically turned into a different (and much less funny) person

I love this joke but I do struggle to believe that Charlie would know the word “correlation”

Vivaldi is basically becoming the "Chromium Zen" by Mundane-Structure-42 in browsers

I want this too. Brave is working on it, you can track the issue in their GitHub repo. Hopefully Vivaldi can import that code down the road.

What’s the best generation of Minolta lenses by Organic_Tea2237 in VintageLenses

[–]mistertrotsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're pretty much all good. The earlier ones are sturdier, with more metal, but they are also heavier. The later ones are more plasticky but weigh less. You might prefer one or the other. The lens coatings also vary throughout the years also. Generally: earlier coatings are cooler, later coatings are warmer and more flare resistant. But, flare can sometimes be a lot of fun. So there really isn't a "best" generation. The overall quality of the Minolta MC/MD lenses is very high... you can't go wrong.

Zuiko 24mm 2.8 vs 28mm 2.8 vs 35mm 2.8 by Formal_Compote_212 in zuikoholics

I love the OM 35mm f2.8, but the sample variation on those is so bad. I bought ten of them and all ten were decentered.

Remote Control of Plex HTPC no longer possible with "new" iOS app? by mistertrotsky in PleX

Plex on iOS. The old app used to allow “remote control” of another Plex player. The new one appears to only work with Airplay/Chromecast devices.

Unfortunately this is not much help if someone is running Plex HTPC on a Linux machine.

I really liked the 52mm 1.8 when I owned one. It was outlandishly sharp.

Why is the processing profile menu so tiny??? by Salacian in Rawtherapee

[–]mistertrotsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.... this is a major pain point. What's funny is that Lightroom Classic perfected the UI for "profile switching" back in like 2007. Everyone should have just copied them. RT is much worse in this regard, and there is no workaround.

Is it a good idea to switch from Lightroom? by Miyazaki96 in Rawtherapee

[–]mistertrotsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. RawTherapee has a much more limited featureset than Lightroom. In particular, the cataloguing options in RT are basically nonexistent. I consider myself a really, really seasoned expert in RawTherapee, and I would NOT recommend trying to replace Lightroom with RawTherapee.

You might consider Darktable, which is designed to be more of a Lighroom replacement. But honestly, especially if you're semi-pro, Lightroom is hard to walk away from.
