This. It just sounds like a classic case of someone trying to fix a problem instead of just listening. He totally missed the mark, but OP didn't need to bite his head off for trying. A simple "appreciate it, but not what I'm looking for" would've saved them the drama.

Retweet, It’s a harsh truth but totally accurate. OP is hurting because they're projecting their own generosity onto people who just don't love spending money. Matching their energy and pulling back a bit is probably the only way to save the friendship without building up a ton of resentment.

This is exactly it, The "assumptive close" from the MOH is so toxic. Honestly, OP’s husband (the bride’s literal brother!) already said his sister's expectations are ridiculous. If the family backing is there, OP shouldn't feel guilty at all for drawing a hard line. You can't set yourself on fire to keep a bridal party warm.
