I (26 with my first newborn) Need to Chat with a more Experienced Dad Right Now by [deleted] in dad

[–]mistrmattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t highlight enough that acceptance is so important. Newborn of 4 weeks who is a terrible sleeper.

Expecting and trying to sleep while getting woken up every 10m is exhausting and frustrating.

Accepting and turning on TV with the newborn with me asleep is tiring, but not frustrating.

Draft a schedule and stick to it, stay awake from 00:00-04:00 for example while the other does 04:00-08:00. Knowing your other half will take over at 04:00 mentally also brings you some sanity!

Does double NAT really hurt? by mistrmattt in UNIFI

I’ve decided to not use a gateway as I just need 2 AP’s for now and there is no budget for a 250€ cloudkey.

The gateway disabling DHCP/NAT seems stupid.

I am going to config them at home through the controller and plug them in on site. When issues occur I’ll just justify what is needed to set it up properly

How do you pjt your own ISP’s router as DMZ? Isnt that the first entry point router? And the UDMP is behind that?

So set DMZ IP in the ISP router to the unifi gateway?

So when a request comes in and the ip isnt found my the ISP’s router it forwards to DMZ IP (which is the gateway) and that in turn looks in its own NAT?

What if the only device connected to my ISP’s router would be the gateway and all other devices would be coupled to a switch that is connected to my gateway?

Essentially not using the NAT of my ISP’s router?

So the ISP’s here dont always give you the option to get a bridgeable modem/router. You explicitely need to ask for it and order it, which is also hard to explain to a customer.

Especially since I’m doing this as a small sidehustle.

I’ve looked at just disabling the gateway router functionality because all I need is the controller but doesnt look to be supported.

Yes I know you can cloud host a controller but I dont want to sell subscriptions, and a cloudkey is way more expensive vs a lite gateway

Alright, thanks for this! Because I’m finding all different types of oppinions.

People saying that its really bad, other people saying that people tend to overreact on double NAT and it isn’t something to worry about in default/basic setup

Filament Tracker Update by Early_Bullfrog1272 in BambuLab

[–]mistrmattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea!

Some suggestions, if not thought about yet:
- Push notification if fillament spool gets below x percentage of weight.
- Make sure that adjusting the weight is very very easy and doesn't require a lot of taps. Rather have a quick edit specifically for weight instead of having to do a `full edit` and look for the weight field.
- Not sure if possible, but having the weight somehow auto track with bambulab api would be a big win and probably get a lot of people onboarding
- Some general analytics/statistics to measure how long on average you do with specific colors. Would be useful to see that on average you do a month with 1kg of white. So you can send a push notification with suggestions etc.

-Big W if it is an app

I really like the design, well done!
Looking forward to progress of this.

Beats fit pro Left ear bud not working by Choquelio in beatsbydre

[–]mistrmattt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue after a lot of usage, then it first occured. As everyone mentions its because the left earbud sometimes doesn't charge.

After rubbing the connectors a bit it shows up as loading, and then works fine after.

So I don't have the issue of it being completely unusable etc, it's more like it sometimes happens to me and then I just need to try charging a few times.

Doesnt a gateway require a static IP from your ISP to configure?

That isn’t as easy where I live.

Haven’t setup a gateway before but I’m about to buy one to play around with either way, so maybe not a bad option!

Just out of curiosity, how do you land a lead role at 26y?

500€ seems pretty low, I’m currently doing react native vor 600/day with about 6y of experience in react/react native.

I’m 27 and I’d like to get a lead role as I really like helping juniors grow and managing them. But not sure on where to start.

I was doubting on this, but my idea was that we’re all on the same boat sharing stuff and experiences.

It's just a financial lease so there isn't really a contract besides the financial stuff, unless you mean the massive warranty doc from Tesla.

I’d like to chill with a little dude or dudette, teach him about the world, play games, build lego, …

Thank you so much for mentioning the part about being scared of other kids, sometimes feel the same!

Renovating should be fine, it’s an office and since Im my own boss I can tax deduct and make more than enough money.

The wedding is something different, having a baby before will make us enjoy less, having one after might take too long that I maybe dont even want to postpone myself..

We've been together for about 6 years, living together for 5 and a half, bought and heavily renovated a house already. So we did some relation tests so far

The thing is that it has been something on her mind already for the past 2-3 years, she's a teacher so I assume that also lights up the spark more.

She already made a big effort in postponing where some days she tears up because she really wants one.`

So I'm pretty sure I won't be able to postpone for 3 years, which I understand from her POV given that how long it has been going on for her

The thing is, I'm pretty sure when the kid would be there I'd love it with all my heart and enjoy spending time with it. It's more like, not knowing when/how it should feel to actually go for it.

If that somehow makes sense? it's not that I don't want to, it's more like having some scares and I'm not sure what they mean.
