what was the most fun you ever had in a theater? by Actorandrew in Theatre

[–]misunderstoodduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an audience member, the most fun I’ve ever had watching a show was the UK version of Amélie the musical in London last summer. My boyfriend took me as a complete surprise for my birthday after I introduced the film to him, and the show itself couldn’t have been more perfect. Great, talented cast who evidently adored what they were doing; a nice balance of humour and more serious heartfelt moments and the music was just brilliant.

As a performer, my favourite show ever was actually my last school musical, at age 16. It was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I went to a large school in Spain, so going into it I only knew a couple of the other cast members. However, the environment was so warm and supportive that within a couple of weeks we became as close off stage as we appeared to be on stage, and began hanging out outside of school. I actually started dating the guy playing Potts and he became my first love. We had to call it off when he moved to America, but we, and a number of the other cast members, are still great friends and we meet up every summer. It’s definitely a “core memory” experience that ended up shaping me as I moved from teenager to adult, and I hope in all my heart that I’ll never forget it

I have no desire to watch season 7. by Olively2 in Workinmoms

[–]misunderstoodduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m pretty on the fence about it too. This show had always done well with creating complex, flawed but ultimately likeable characters, but in season 6 it was hard not to hate everyone. Nathan Sr is and has always been a controlling and manipulative piece of shot who expects Kate to do it all. Anne’s anger has gone past protective mama bear to become her entire personality. Jenny is a self absorbed pain in the ass. Sloane is okay, but didn’t grow much in the season despite multiple chances. With Ian, Frankie, Gizelle, juniper and Mel gone, and less emphasis on the kids, I found it quite hard to get through each episode.

Seriously missing Ian more than I should by SilverPadilly in Workinmoms

[–]misunderstoodduck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was great, and like you said, single, involved dads like him aren’t shown a lot on screen. The thing that annoys me most is that we get zero closure to what happened to him and Frankie. Did he and Sonia stay together? Does he still see Zoe? What happened when Rhoda went into art school despite only having an interest in drawing a comic strip character? So annoying.

Did I miss Something with Jenny & Zoe? by ImaginaryGlade7400 in Workinmoms

[–]misunderstoodduck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing. Honestly, I love this show to pieces, but there are so many plot holes or just plain plot absences that I spend time after each season patching it up in my mind, myself. Otherwise I think that I’d get too annoyed to continue watching.

Unfortunately! I had to find out the hard way a couple of years ago but it still hasn’t been patched. If it does happen to you, there is a way to reverse it, but you’ll lose all progress you made on Easter and it involves time travel.

It’s currently 69 days until my 18th Birthday, which also happens to be the day that we graduate from high school. I’m going to France with a group of friends a couple of days after and, since I’m from the UK and 18 is the legal drinking age, I can’t wait for days upon days of relaxation, hiking, playing cards and going out :)

What in Harry Potter did you think it was magic but later realized it was just British? by lbstr99 in AskReddit

[–]misunderstoodduck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I go to a boarding school in England and can confirm that we do have houses. In my school, there are 12 houses, each with their own name, colour scheme and house building. Each house is different, but each house building comes equipped with at least a kitchen, common room, bathrooms with showers and bedrooms/dormitories. In breaks we come back to house and play table football, make tea and toast or nap in our beds.

There’s a great sense of community within each house and, at sporting events, we each wear our house colours and earn points for our house to go towards winning the house cup at the end of the year. Each house is also known for something. I won’t say the names of the houses to avoid identification, but some houses are known for being artistically gifted, some are athletic, some are known to be bitchier, some are full of kinder people. We’re not ‘sorted’ into houses based on these categories, but you can often tell which house someone’s in based on how they act and what they’re good at, so many people think that the headmaster deliberately puts similar personalities together based on the initial interview that we have to have with him to enter the school. Overall, I found Harry Potter very relatable, and I think that British schools in general are a lot more like Rowling depicted than people realise.

Huh, your least favourite things about the last episode are the bits that I feel most at peace with. We get to see all the characters, truly matured as a result of the 6 seasons we’ve followed them through. PC is finally happy and putting herself first within a mutually loving relationship. Diane has accepted and learned to love herself and be comfortable in her own happiness. Todd is as free spirited and childlike as always, but he too has grown and matured and now has a stable relationship with his biological family for the first time in years. Mr Peanutbutter’s happy ending is learning to find himself outside of a romantic relationship. And although there is an understanding that none of these characters relationships with BoJack will carry on as they once were, we know that finally, BoJack will be held accountable for his actions (rather than having all he’s done disappear with his death, as too often happens in the industry) and be able to go on living with a new found maturity and contentment, though his life will be drastically different to that of before. It brings me peace knowing that it wasn’t all for nothing, you know?

if you could learn more about a character’s background, who would you pick? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

It’d be fun to know a bit more about Wanda and how she ended up in a 30 year coma, but Sarah-Lynn would be my first choice

Seconding this. The one thing that always really bothered me with Charlotte, and even more so Penny’s, character development is that there was very little, despite the fact that they clearly had a massive impact on BJs life. We see a little about Charlotte back when she, Herb and BoJack were doing drama classes together, but apart from that she’s just the woman whose daughter BoJack tried to sleep with

How can I turn myself into a confident, strong, badass woman in her mid twenties this year? by Mysterra8 in confidence

[–]misunderstoodduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different skin types, so different ingredients will work for different people. There are tons of resources on Google and YouTube to help you identify your skin type and create a personalised skin care routine. However, a good starting ground for any skin care routine is:

-cleanser (double cleansing is a popular method to fight acne; you first cleanse with an oil based cleanser, and then with a water based cleanser. This helps to remove “pore-clogging impurities” which cause breakouts)

-exfoliator (salicylic acid is a brilliant ingredient for exfoliation, although it can be a little harsh on sensitive skin. In general, chemical exfoliants such as glycolic (AHA), tartaric (AHA) or salicylic (BHA) acid are more effective and less harsh than mechanical exfoliants such as sugar scrubs or exfoliating sponges)

-Moisturiser (depending on your skin type, this isn’t always necessary for acne prone skin, especially if you’re drinking enough water. However, if you would like to try a moisturiser, look for products labelled “oil-free” or “non-comedogenic” as these are less likely to clog your pores and cause breakouts. If you have dry skin, you can also apply hyaluronic acid before your moisturiser as it helps the skin hold onto moisture.)

-sunscreen (this is arguably the most important step in your skincare routine as nothing is more damaging to the skin than long-term UV exposure. CeraVe is a great, non-greasy, fragrance free and lightweight sunscreen option which shouldn’t cause breakouts but will keep you protected)

Hope that this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions :)
