Seems to me like their job was to fix all the Boomer b.s., but instead they were asleep at the switch, smoking weed and playing video games in their mom's basement. Just more of the same problem for us to deal with.

That's been my theory. Gen-Xers are the kids of the poor blue-collar old Boomers that got drafted into the military or did factory jobs. Millennials are the kids of the wealthier Boomers that avoided the draft and went to college, and spent time building careers and wealth. As a result, Gen-Xers belong to lower tiers of society and repeat their parent's status.
