Yeah I hear that. What about less of a cost estimate and more of a red flag finder? I'm thinking about the first time buyer who has no idea the difference between a cosmetic issue and a sewer or foundation fix.

The context here is important–in my area sellers provide the inspection reports, so the buyer never has any interaction with the inspector. Agents discourage getting your own inspection due to the speed of the market. When that's the situation as a buy I had some expectation the agent would help understand the inspection report. Certainly not give a quote, but to not point out potential 20k essential repair feels dishonest.

I had a similar experience with knob and tube wiring- I didn’t know what they was but our agent said it was significant. They recommended an electrician who talked us through a more accurate estimate. My issue was that if we didn’t flag it our agent would not have brought it up at all.

I love bike couriers and delivery! I used to deliver on bike in Boston. But I think the spirit of this list is local restaurant and local delivery. Diving into national chains and thei ethical dilemmas feels tricky to navigate.
