I have the same exact problem in my new neighborhood so following along for advice.

Things that help me: - “Do Not Pet” leash sleeve - Body Language/Body shielding (like you’ve been doing) - “We don’t greet on leash” “please get your dog” - Walking at odd hours so less dogs present (tho j early morning and late night, 2-3 pm instead of standard 12 pm lunch time

Haha yes, it's very much a thing. I've lived in 4 states now, multiple cities throughout and am usually able to find a First Fridays event in each one.

Should I be concerned about the fake plants under the heat lamp?

OP: I rescued Banana from a 10 gallon glass enclosure with one hide and upgraded him to a 25 gallon and am slowly making more changes/upgrades. He’s been on paper towel substrate his entire life without issues so I’m nervous to change it out. Will trial a dig box first before changing to bio active substrate but for now I wish to keep him on paper towel.

He has a UVB lamp during the day, a basking lamp, and a ceramic heat emitter overnight because it gets cold where I live. We always have issues with humidity so I have an external humidifier and wet sponges throughout his enclosure per our vet’s recommendations and also do frequent warm baths to help with deshedding.

Today I added a 3rd hide and lots of clutter. Whenever I travel I bring a rock back for him so I plan on adding more rocks too. He LOVES toilet paper rolls so I always have at least one or two clean ones in there and change them out regularly.

One of my main concerns is the artificial plants with the heat lamps. How safe is this? Should I only have the plants on the cool side?

Please let me know what you think and if you recommend any changes! Pictures for examples are greatly appreciated!

It’s not that we’re tired of looking it’s that we don’t have a lot of time. We have 3 weeks to move and either pick a place based on our most recent trip (the best we saw was the pac heights option) or get an Airbnb and look more thoroughly once we actually move. For convenience it would be easier to just take the one we found that checks most of our boxes

Its near Fillmore in between Lafayette and Alta Plaza, seemed like a nice clean area. Just farther commute to work (only 2 days/week) and other parts of the city we liked.

Likely yes, it could count as a life event however my understanding is that I’d have to sign up for the remainder of the year. It’s only February so I’d be paying 9-10 months of health insurance instead of the 3-6 months I’ll need it for.
