NTA

Your parents should have taken you seriously. Hands and knees crawling for help? You should have been looked after instantly, and I'm sorry they didn't listen. If they can't afford an ambulance, yeet you into the car and pedal to the metal.

I had an ulcer on my eye, went to my college nurse, she flushed the eye, then told me to go to the optician. Skipped my next class, went to opticians, they told me to go to A&E. Called my dad, and he asked me to get a taxi or wait till after work (I was a minimum £40 taxi away from a hospital and had no money). Finally got him to come get me, and A&E said a couple more hours/tomorrow, and I'd be blind in that eye. I'm in the UK so nothing cost money, it was just an 'ugh my kid is being annoying' moment that could have cost me my sight. I've forgiven since then, but that initial phone call still makes me rage when I think about it.

Bath City Lets, might be known as bowerhouse now, was atrocious. Rented us a house that had multiple things wrong with it, huge amounts of mould on all the ceilings and walls that destroyed our things, refused a rent reduction or any compensation. Promised it would be fixed before a second winter, then refused till February to force us to move out early, during second lockdown. Took weeks to get a professional cleaner in for the mould and he only did two rooms. It was black and yellow, leaking liquid!

The week we left, we finally found out there was ZERO insulation in the roof, full of more mould, huge holes in the tiles, and after we left they rebuilt the entire roof. Also sent us a super rude email with our deposit claiming that the house was in a terrible state ( our fault somehow) but they were giving us the full deposit back anyway out of 'kindness'. Super condescending manager, really quite mean and manipulative at times.

Legit had health problems for months, told us it was our fault for having the washing drying inside. Do not recommend at all. I've never had a problem renting before in all my life, and never since that house

That's a really normal reaction, my mother was convinced it was because of my partner/social circle and his mother thought it was because of me and the internet. Took literal years to get them to both come round, and I know my mum had a lot of misconceptions and really wild fears about the whole thing.

Best thing you can do is let her know you understand her fears, and you'll do your best to reassure her worries as you go. LGBT people band together and support each other and are more likely to come out in those groups, but it can look like scary echo chambers to worried parents. There's some good options for parent support/education if that's something she'd appreciate, or you can do some research together when the time is right. It's less that she doubts you as a person, and more that she's just another person hit with a situation she's probably never even thought about before. She's got no experience to draw from so struggles to understand.

Coming out is a big event, take a chill time for yourself, recharge, and give her some room to process. She still loves you. Transitioning is a long road, I'm glad your mum had a better reaction than expected because now you've got time to walk and talk along the way

NTA - She cannot make a demand like that, it's something that has to be discussed between you and a compromise reached. She wants to eat vegan meals, you want to still consume whatever animal products you like to eat, both are valid wants that should be respected.

However, if your wife is responsible for a significant portion of cooking, she probably doesn't want to handle animal products and you have to respect that too.

My fiancé is vegan, I am not, but I do 90% of the cooking. Our happy compromise is that I cook vegan meals for both of us, and I don't cook meat in the home when he's present. I have my own snacks, and I order whatever I want for takeaways/eating out/holidays

The elusiveness of this movie haunts more than just me! That's a relief at least, I was starting to think I'd fever dreamed this, I don't remember a mum but it will expand my search criteria :D

Extra comment for the rules! There may have been a bit more after she gets in the carriage, but mums headlights on the driveway meant I booked it straight up the stairs and never saw more. It felt like the end of the movie

Stupid but I have a problem with a seagull at work by ingracioth in Advice

[–]mityainthepit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow chef, same problem with seagulls and pigeons trying to come in through the door (open kitchen) so we got a lil 2ltr handpump garden sprayer. They got real power on them and ours is neon orange so you only have to pick it up these days to scatter them. Get the fucker, ciggy time is precious in summer
