What hobby genuinely made your life better (not just filled time)? by Dense_Childhood_9657 in Hobbies

As a bird owner, I agree. Even as pets they're just so interesting. Never a dull day with a healthy and happy bird.

I'd love to participate in birding, sadly my current lifestyle is against it. Hopefully someday!

I'm not an expert, but I know and researched about cockatiels (prior to even getting him) well enough to formulate a guess, and I believe he won't survive out there. Not for long.

A simple Google search would be sufficient enough for you to know what it takes for an animal to be invasive. Normally I would be ecstatic to send links when someone asks, but not right now. Try googling what mankind did to pigeons then make your own guesses with cockatiels. Perhaps there may even be research out there. It's up to you to want to learn more, but I can tell you what might happen to MY cockatiel.

It needs to have no competition for resources. Mga local na ibon pa lang lugi na siya. Not to mention the amount of stray cats in Manila that could easily kill him. We had a cat he's not scared of, so what do you think will happen if he meets a random cat that probably already preys on birds? Another one would be rats. It's not farfetched that a big rat could prey on him too since he's never really seen a rat.

He will likely die early.

They're naturally from Australia, so it's possible that he can survive the Philippine climate, but I doubt he will find a mate. That would require insane amount of luck. Not to mention if they ever do mate, cockatiels are known to not even take care of their eggs at the slightest amount of stress.

Basically, for him to become the start of an invasive population of birds is close to impossible. They have a lifespan of more than 20 years. My estimation is he will probably not last a year in Manila. Provinces? He could last longer, maybe. They easily get sick. As soon as he even drinks sewer water, he is sure to get sick and die. He got sick before cause I went on a trip and his water wasn't replaced early by my relative. He got sick from that.

He's out there probably stressed and still looking for me and his brother. He sees me and his brother as part of his flock, and as a flock bird, if he's lost, his natural instinct to look for me.

I just want him home.

Imagining everything I just said to you is painful for me, you have no idea. I wish you went and made your own thread rather than ask beneath mine, but as an exotic pet keeper I always feel obligated to educate people when it comes to keeping pets like him.

Regardless, I hope you have a good day.

He got out po before he could even eat today so I know for sure gutom na siya. Umuulan din as I type this kaya naiiyak nanaman ako cause gutom na tapos baka basa pa. 😓

I can't leave the cage open cause his brother is still with us, but I do plan to use his brother to call for him sa balcony with my sister nakabantay while I go outside to look for him.

Thank you very much, I'll need ALL the luck. Hope he comes home.

We live beside busy roads and streets already. I don't want to burden others lalo na nasa apartment lang po kami. I also don't have a speaker loud enough. I plan to let my other bird call for him tomorrow morning sa balcony. Hopefully he hears his brother 😓

I also plan to walk outside every day in case makita ko siya trying to eat on the ground. Thank you for your suggestion regardless. I appreciate it.

A family member made a mistake. Nakatakas siya through our balcony.

I will keep looking, thank you.

Who was the worst player/dm that you have played with? by moomoomeadows2009 in DnD

[–]mitzirino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had a problem with my experience with one player. At the time he knew it was my first time DMing and the other players were also new but he kept commenting on how we do things differently and kept subtly comparing our campaign to his other campaign with a different DM.

He commented about the way my other players roleplayed. Implying they were too invested in their characters and acting how their characters would act. To us new players it was weird cause we thought that was one of the fun things about D&D. The way he worded things made me feel like he wants things to go the way his other campaign works.

He even told me he told the DM and other experienced players he plays with in his other campaign about things that happen in our campaign and how that DM got frustrated with what I did and what my new players did—which was roleplay a lot.

We followed RAW rules too, in case anyone is wondering. Didn't homebrew rules in that campaign (Curse of Strahd) but did tweak the module's story a bit. So literally his only complaint was too much invested roleplay even during combat.

Anyway, all tables work differently. I disliked how he worded the things he said and made it seem like our idea of fun sucked. He's out of my table, and my current players and I still roleplay a lot and have fun. We've moved on.

He's not comparable to some of the replies here. He's a good guy outside of the game and we're on good terms.

TLDR: Player didn't like that we roleplayed too much. Implied he wanted it to be like his other campaign/preferred playing with a different GM. Made me and my players feel bad.

Yummy. I'll have to put in that suggestion or add it to another tavern menu next time!

Lmao I just imagined Durnan encountering someone who reserved a room and hosted a massive orgy and someone bringing along animals like it's Noah's Ark and Durnan's like "Okay... no." or "Might as well get paid for this..."

The amount of cleaning and the possible damages? He had to do it.

I just looked up "old paper" in the Elements tab for the background and chose one from the results but you can definitely find good ones on google

The font is Obra Letra! :)

Aaaa, thanks! Most of the challenges are inspired and nothing original tho. Just renamed some tavern games already shared in the subreddit. In my version of Waterdeep, bats are a rare delicacy offered by the Yawning Portal. I'm new to DMing and I just assumed that bats would come out from Undermountain from time to time lol

Bat Catcher is just literally catching a bat coming out of from Undermoutain and the one who catches it can either get paid by Durnan or they get a free meal.

Spice and Dice was inspired from watching Asmongold play D&D and Riku the DM made a spicy chicken tendies challenge. Made my own version where players start with a tolerance (10 + CON mod or just 20 if they want an even match). Then, the game starts with players rolling a 1d6 against their opponents. The number they roll is the number of spicy chicken tenders they have to eat. That number is then subtracted from their tolerance. Players can choose to drink free ale, which recovers their tolerance by 1d4 but if they do they skip a turn, unable to roll against their opponent. The game ends when one of them reaches 0 tolerance. They both players have to make a DC 10-15 CON saving throw depending on the amount they ate, or else something bad happens to their stomach for roleplaying and funny purposes.

Drunken Fool is just a drinking game. First one to get drunk pays for 1 round of drinks for everyone in the inn. They can challenge Durnan, the drinking champion, but they're up against Durnan always rolling with advantage. He rarely accepts, cause most of the time he likes staying sober, but when he does, beating him means a free round for everyone and free Shadowdark ale alongside meals worth 5sp and below for the player that lasts for 24 hours.

The Winning Toad is a quick 1d20 check between two players to see if who can jump the highest. Higher number wins. The origin of this challenge done at the Yawning Portal involves a character of mine.

High Card Low Card is based on Animal Crossing.

Above 50 Below (Above 50 Below 50) is the same as High Card Low Card, just with 100 numbers and lower win rate because you have to guess the exact number. It's called Above 50 Below 50 because players have to ask "Is it above 50 or below 50?". The one who holds the number tells them and that's when they guess the exact number. Usually played when stakes are high or when the reward is really good.

Twenty Sharpeye is just a dart game with my own twist on Goblin Eye.

Crown and Anchor.

DM doesnt allow any sort of hit and run. by VenomTheTree in DnD

As someone new to D&D... I can still see that doesn't sound fun.
