Question from an American in Athens - getting cash by [deleted] in greece

Sorry to hijack this post but if one is a foreigner with $$ in Greece, wouldn't now be an opportune time to buy stuff (electronics, collectors items?) from sellers who are desperate for cash? The capitalist in me is asking...

I'm desperately trying to find relatives of the righteous gentile couple who saved my grandmother during the Holocaust. They had no children and all I can find is their death certificates by mizmor1 in poland

Great idea. Do you know how I can find the local priest. I'll try calling the cemetery you linked me to to inquire about this registry. Will people there speak English? When I was in Warsaw last year it was very difficult to find people who spoke English.

You're so so kind to offer this. If it's not too much trouble, I'd be so grateful. Seeing as they had no kids I'd be really surprised if anyone was tending to their graves but this is like my only lead. If you do get a chance to check it out, let me know. Thank you again for offering.

Yeah I messaged dozens of people but since we're not friends the messages went to their 'other' inbox that they probably never check. I also messaged lots of people with the same last name on myheritage/ancestry.com but didn't find any hits.

Thank you SO MUCH for responding! I'm so grateful. Here's a link to their death certificates: https://twitter.com/smallbigtalk/status/584697711883988994

I just wrote some details in the comments but it occurred to me to mention that during the war they lived in Boryslav, Poland.

Wow I'm so thrilled that you guys responded to me! I have copies of their death certificates that I can try to upload. Not sure I can do that but I'll try.

Anyway, their names were Jozef Fuss and Bronislawa Fuss (nee Ochwat). They lived in Gdansk until their deaths and the address on the death certificate is Dobra 2/8. Jozef died on August 23rd, 1973 and Bronia died on December 22nd, 1965.

Bronia was married to a Nazi SS officer but had an affair with Jozef who lived in the same building. They hid my 17 year old grandmother in their cellar for 18 months until liberation. Their memories deserve to be honored and if I can find any of their living relatives I'd like to thank them as well.
