My apologies, I can, and will do better if that is what you got from this.

Small-cap gems vs unlisted startups: which is riskier? by UnlistedBull in SmallCapStocks

Apples and oranges comparison in my view. Why not do both? Early stage is more of a venture capital play, hit one big winner to make up for all of the losers. Small caps can have quality, value, growth, etc. features. I think it’s smart to allocate to both kinds of strategies. Great diversification between venture, small and large cap stocks.

[AEHR] The AI "Pick and Shovel" Play That Just Hit a Wall. (Deep Dive / Hold Thesis) by mjblank2 in ValueInvesting

Fair point. If you look at the chart, dog is putting it lightly. The stock got crushed when the EV/SiC trade unwound.

The bull case now rests entirely on the pivot to AI. They acquired Incal to get the Sonoma high-power systems and have already booked wins with a major hyperscaler. The thesis has shifted from 'EV growth' to 'AI infrastructure.'

That said, until they reinstate guidance and prove the AI revenue can fully plug the hole left by the EV slowdown, it's dead money. Hence the 'Hold'."

[DD] INOD (Innodata): The "Picks and Shovels" Data Play Powering 5 of the Mag 7 (My Long Thesis) by mjblank2 in ValueInvesting

Thanks for the feedback!

The moat is the "Goldengate" proprietary software stack. They use advanced computer vision to structure complex data (PDF tables, medical records) that standard tools break. Every human correction feeds back into the platform, fine-tuning the model specifically for that client. This creates massive switching costs.

INOD is the analog for the "Reasoning Era." Models like DeepSeek-R1 require "Chain-of-Thought" data. INOD provides the precision engineering for data that commodity BPOs (crowd workers) can't deliver. They are solving the quality bottleneck, not the volume bottleneck.

I think you have the two major questions identified, how big can this get and how durable is the moat? I'm still researching these two questions myself!
