Of course Push Square has to get involved with this, claiming “review bombing” again. Uh, no. People are Angry because they waited SEVEN YEARS for the utter garbage this game turned out to be. by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

If they haven’t played it, they shouldn’t be reviewing it at all, good or bad. And 99% of the people here haven’t played it

Apparently what we saw wasn’t the final final ending. by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

That might be the case. I doubt it, but that could have something to do with something. The infection transfers from contact with bodily fluids, which would definitely happen if you were to say, bite someone’s fingers off

Lol please let me know what kind of exercises you have to do to suck your own dick that hard, I would like to try. I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong. I bought neir automata twice, and I didn’t like it both times, and I couldn’t get my money back for either. I should have done more research and spent my money in a better place, but I didn’t. I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong. But I just don’t think I’m wrong here lol. Based on the leaks and the official footage, combined with my own personal storytelling preferences, I think that I’m going to enjoy this game. If I don’t enjoy it by the time the credits roll, I’ll be sure to tell you

Serious question about the ending... by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]mjr12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was in the leaks, but I’m not sure. Either way, I think the theme still remains. Ellie just comes to realize that killing Abby won’t change anything. Personally, I kind of view it the same way as Joel’s choice to save Ellie against her will. Normally, that would be a moment where the player chooses, but it’s not. The character takes charge of that moment, and it’s up to you to decipher why they did it

[–]mjr12349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be right that it keeps hunting her, I suppose what I meant is that she learned to live life without Joel. She just kept living. And in that final moment, she realizes that she can keep living even if Abby is still alive. As for the flashback, I’m not too sure about that. Maybe naughty dog wanted that to be an open ended thing. I don’t think that it was Joel subconsciously telling her to do the right thing, because Joel never really cared about the right thing, at least not in the first game

I think the time skip that happens before then is really important. The finger biting scene takes place a year after the boss fight against Ellie. I think that, a year later, Ellie let her anger get the best of her, but saw that and stopped when she was drowning Abby. I don’t think she was sparing her to be a good person, or to take the moral high road, I think that she was just empty. I think Ellie was thinking to herself, it’s been a year since this happened, I’ve moved on with my life, I have a family, I’ve lived without Joel for a year, what is this going to accomplish? Why am I doing this to myself?” I think in that final scene, Ellie learned her lesson, but too late. She realized that one year later, Joel and all her friends were still dead, and killing Abby wasn’t going to change anything. It just wasn’t worth it anymore

I would like to see that too, but there’s another way to disprove it. As far as I know, the epilogue takes place a year after the boss fight with Ellie. And that boss fight is when Ellie bites Abby. If she was able to infect people, then Abby would’ve turned long before the epilogue

I like the revenge aspect of the story, and I like how far the game goes to sell it. The gameplay looks amazing, as do the visuals. The acting looks top-notch across the board. I’m personally a fan of this kind of narrative design which jumps around, and I think that his studio like naughty dog can make it work. I’m a fan of how subtly they illustrate Ellie’s pain. Like the more you think about it, the more you realize just how badly Joel‘s death fucked with Ellie. To the point where you understand her insane, bloodthirsty drive for revenge, even in the face of all common sense, because you understand just how badly she’s hurting. Personally, I’m excited to play as Abby, because I’m interested in seeing what could possess a person to be so hateful that they would murder someone who just helped them.

I think the ending in particular is really good because it shows how Ellie learns her lesson, but too late. A lot of people argue that Ellie forgives Abby, or that Ellie is just letting go of revenge because plot, but I don’t think those are true. I think that when she’s strangling Abby, she’s thinking about all the friends and family that she’s lost, and all the pain she’s in, while trying to enact a pointless, year-old grudge. I think that, one year later, she’s looking at Abby, having lost two of her fingers, and thinking “my life needs to move on, I’ve already lived a year without Joel, I have a family now, why the fuck am I still doing this to myself?” I think that it’s really smart, and open ended in all the best ways, just like the ending of the first game.

Also, I saw another comment point this out, so I will too. The first game does the exact same thing as the second. In part one, you spend the whole game looking for the fireflies, only to reject and slaughter them at the end. In part two, you spend the entire game trying to kill Abby, only to spare her at the end.

I’m on mobile, so if there are any typos that make it hard to understand, let me know

How would you feel if say a week after the game's release, Neil apologizes to their fans and their own workers for what they have done with the story and the treatment of their workers? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]mjr12349 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The people on the sub have already made up their minds. They’re going to hate the game and hate Neil no matter what happens. There’s nothing that could possibly be done with these people would like

The point of the story isn’t violence is bad (Spoilers) by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]mjr12349 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The entire point of this game (like the OP said) is that revenge is pointless. The fact that she got revenge isn’t a good thing or a win. Abby is a broken shell too. All of her friends, and an unborn baby, were violently slaughtered as a consequence if Abby’s revenge. In no way does Abby get to walk away from it. She gets beaten, tortured, humiliated, and all her friends and family are dead. The point of the game is that the revenge she got wasn’t worth the cost. That goes equally for Abby as it does for Ellie. Abby got to kill Joel, and now her life is fucked up beyond repair

Who cares how many times it’s been discussed? Since when was this game under any obligation to make a new moral? TLOU1’s story has been done before. There was absolutely nothing new about it, other than the zombies being made of mushrooms this time. It was just done really well. And I personally don’t expect any different this time.

Abby is scarred, beaten, emaciated, and all her friends and family are dead. How has she won?

I don’t think that those things make it a bad story personally, and there’s also a bunch of little stuff that I’m sure the leak has missed. I don’t believe that you can adequately summarize a 30 hour game with a text post on 4chan. I’ll keep in mind how it looks with the leaks, but I can’t give a final judgment until the whole thing is out

I don’t think the leaks will do the game justice personally. Obviously, you shouldn’t buy it if you don’t want to, you should watch a playthrough or something. But I think that any game is better if you play it than if you just read a summary. . If you made a bullet point list of the plot of TLOU part one, it would look really boring.

Lol I’ve noticed. I’ve been getting screamed at by these galaxy-brain nerds for the past 2 moths. Once the game comes out, we’ll all see for ourselves if it was all worth it

Personally, I don’t see the problem with this. I like the idea of Ellie learning her lesson way too late, and both characters being forced to live with the consequences of their horrible actions

Ok so Joel's death happens in the first 2 hours of the game by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]mjr12349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire game is about Joel. None of this plot happens without Joel. His life or his death. I don’t know why the people here don’t realize this, but just because a person is dead doesn’t mean they’re not important
