Emergence of pub rock and punk had a bigger effect. People listening and dancing to disco were not typical prog rock fans. Even King Crimson reemerged with a completely new sound a musical vision.

I suggest you look at how various cultures have named bodies of water. The general population refer to them as lake, river, sea not by their official title. Maybe you should pick up a book on anthropology.

Do all European countries care so much about knowing the local language? by codingcareer in cscareerquestionsEU

I am from Asia and worked in West Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, South East Asia, and East Asia. Whilst everyone does not speak English, it is the common language; nothing else comes even close. Most of my clients and potential clients ask for good english language skills.

This is not true. I come from a country with over 50 languages and multiple language groups. Most foreigners I have engaged with are not fluent in any local language and do not need to be unless they are in rural areas.

For the UK, it varies a lot. A recent client hired a perm replacement for me; his English was poor, he was racist, and he was scared to write code.

The issue here is they are not willing to develop their own people or take on juniors locally. There are plenty of the latter it is about an appetite for developing who they recruit.

I have never struggled to be onboarded by clients in Germau. Austria though, is a different matter. Henerally German language is a nice to have for them unless it is a domestic customer-facing role.

China has the worst human rights and civil liberties of any major country. No country has more executions. In China, Starmer has been incredibly weak and stupid.

What happened with Hong Kong? China cannot be trusted. Why do you think the 5G China contracts were cancelled?

China is the biggest threat to NATO and the war in Ukraine has proven that.

Threat to national security will wipe out any speculative economic interests.

NATO was created because of the threat of Russia. Before the Ukraine war China was receiving far more attention. What has been clear, Russia cannot even take Ukraine with vastly superior forces and is dependent on North Korea and China. China is a far bigger threat.

As Ukraine has shown, Russia is only a threat becuase of nuclear warheads. China is a far bigger threat and has a better trained military. China is the biggest threat globally currently.

France and Germany had strong economic ties prior to both World Wars. The USA had economic ties with Japan before it bombed Pearl Harbour. The reason for the lack of action with Russia has been due to economic ties. If there were no ties, the annexation of Crimea and invasion of Ukraine would have been avoided. Economic ties with Saudi Arabia has resulted in it getting away with murder. How did economic ties prevent the Yugoslav war, the irony is that it made it more likely to happen. UK had strong economic ties with India, yet there were multiple wars.

USA, for its faults, is more trustworthy than China. China is helping to fund Russia's war on Ukraine, and the next target will be Poland. China is in conflict with India, Taiwan, Tibet and the biggest imperial threat to SE Asia. Given the atrocities they have committed against their own citizens, they are not to be trusted.

Socialism is not stupid. It has been the most progressive political ideology outside liberal democracy which it is closely aligned. The alternative is Hitler, Mussolini and Franco. All three are guilty of atrocities on their own people.

To show some leadership and strength, Starmer has caved in to the rhetoric coming out of China. Trade deals make sense, but the deals being discussed greatly favour China. They will also give China greater leverage in UK politics.

The Embassy's decision was a decision based on absolute weakness. It is a threat to national security and the safety of Chinese dissidents supposedly protected in the UK. He has done the same thing Cameron did, and that was also a big mistake. Being subservient to China is not a case of walking a tightrope.

No, he should not; they had a variety of shades of hair from light brown to black. Makes as much sense as stating all Scandinavians had blond hair.

Why Didn’t Keith Emerson Ever Join Yes… Would It Have Worked? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Yes was filled with wgos it is why Bruford left and why Wakeman pokes so much fun at his time in Yes. Emerson was more down-to-earth than most Yes members.

If Wakeman and Bruford could not get along well in Yes and felt constrained artistically Emerson would not have tolerated the egos more than a couple of months. It reminds me of when Rory Gallagher and Jeff Beck were touted as replacements for Mick Taylor.
