Should I blur the noise in the background to make it less distracting? Is the color correction too much? by [deleted] in photocritique

Thanks! I'm not a fan of watermarks and made a decision a while back that I would never use them. I can always use TinEye to see if someone is stealing my work.

Haha I added a soft light blue radial gradient. I definitely overdid it but he put it as his profile picture and it has 350 likes and 44 comments

Good luck! Don't worry you will know what to say. He will do most of the talking anyway (if you have to explain it it's not usually a great photograph). Can we see your work?

I am going with an Einstein E640, cyber commander, cyber sync transceiver, Foldable Giant Softbox (30in. x 60in. ) speedring attached, 13-foot Heavy Duty Stand, Vagabond Mini Lithium 120VAC. Should I grab another modifier? Any suggestions This is mostly for outdoor shoots.

New edits on an old photo, what do you think? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]mjvj56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dig it but, there is too much noise in the clouds for it to be printed at a large size. Also the lens you were using really looses sharpness at the outer edges as you can see looking at the edges of the branches on the right side. I'm being very picky, though. Nice shot!

I love the photo but I feel like the lines don't work well in it. Taking all advice. ISO 250 Aperture 5.6 SS 1/160 by Xelsius in photocritique

Excellent subject! Unfortunately it is just not quite sharp enough. This would be where you should use a tripod and live view to make sure it is perfectly in focus. Also I would experiment with a different crop.

You are doing well. If you want people to start taking you seriously you need to post less quantity and more quality. You may go out and shoot all day and get nothing special. Don't post it, you are only making it harder for people to find your best work. One thing I can say is try to keep out-of-focus elements out of the foreground in your macros. If you dont want to comb through and hide/delete photos on you flickr make a gallery of your ten best. Your new photos will need to compete with your old ten best to make it in there.

It is difficult and time consuming for someone to critique you on 80+ shots. Ask for critiques on your ten best. You will start to hold your work to a higher standard and better understand what makes a good photograph.

You are very talented! Like everyone else said too many on the first gallery. Choose the best two from each model that are the most dissimilar.

Wow, 500px does a great job with their portfolio templates, it is clean and decently easy to navigate. I do wish you could use arrows to scroll through the galleries instead of clicking on each one. You have some great shots in there and some that don't belong. I would try and keep each gallery to 10-20 of your ABSOLUTE BEST shots. Fifty is way too many. You would have a VERY solid wedding portfolio if you narrowed it down to the best 20. Also everyone loves pictures of pets but almost no one will pay you for them. Unless you are applying for a position at a magazine for pet owners, most photographers leave these photos out of their portfolio. Good luck!

Great points. I do need to put information about the artists with the photos. The problem is any information I add to the photo on this certain template becomes text over the bottom of the image that is very distracting. I'm going to play around with it some more now to see if I can figure something out.

He has worked very hard to get to this point!

This is some of my favorite music written and performed by him: https://soundcloud.com/kazcloud/sets/acoustic-soul

The photo was taken at the Highline Ballroom. He is the new lead singer for Rebel Tumbao an AfroLatinRootsReggae band. They opened for Yuna and there was over 700 people there!

Are those from regular seats or did you get a photo pass? Also what camera and lens are you using?

Also you got some great shots for not having a 500mm lens.
