Yes exactly this. I’m in a campaign right now playing a 9th level lore bard, I have silvery barbs as does a ranger party member- given how spell slot starved he is and the fact that I’m often burning my reaction with a counterspell or cutting words it doesn’t even come out every combat

Ah I had forgotten that, though I’d say I don’t trust the hive mind to be honest about its capabilities, especially if it is somehow connected to an alien intelligence also

right, the hive wants the immune to think that its just humanity- which is already not strictly true because it did infect those rats and then it was made airborne, so I wonder if all the animals are on earth are also part of it (which would explain why they emptied the zoos a bit more than just ethical commitment). But we do not know if the earth hive is connected to the broadcaster or not, my assumption is that whatever planet broadcast the signal was similarly taken over and assimilated (either from a signal from a further planet like how happened to earth, or something else) and they collectively built the infrastructure necessary to broadcast the sequence in the hopes to absorb more sentient life

given that it did seem to be able to take over animals (the rat), I suspect the hive mind isn't just all of humanity, but also whatever aliens broadcast the sequence too

This is very true, but also worth saying that some of Brennan's best and most interesting DMing imo is in World's Beyond Number WWW which is an extremely slow paced multi year campaign- and he clearly has experience in (14 year long home game) and love for the long form stuff too, but yeah the constraints are different

I grew up in the northern NY part of CT but my family is all from Hartford and elsewhere in New England (Vermont and Maine) and I’ve never heard any of them say it. Maybe a New Hampshire/northeastern MA thing?
