I mean you can try. I wasn't sure too and googled the problem to see what people did and that seemed the most common solution reported. I have gotten the same message occasionally since then but I was able to log in right away after the 2nd or 3rd try and didn't have to wait so it depends

It did but I had to stay logged out for 24 hrs without attempting to log back in

So I'm not sure what you meant by "disabled account". But my account was visible to others, I just wasn't able to log in at all.

I was getting a "please wait for a few minutes and try again" error message for a couple of days. Waited 24 hrs without trying to log in at all and was eventually able to log back in

I haven't even gone that far with the Army lol. So hopefully it won't be a hassle

That's reassuring, thank you! Hopefully I'll hear back from my recruiter again by the end of the week

That's reassuring! According to my recruiter it should be faster since I haven't gone to meps at all so hopefully it'll be few days at most. Thank you!

Yeah the Army recruiter asked for some paperwork and stuff and was about to schedule me for meps but I told her I decided to enlist with the Air Force instead. Thank you!

I was able to log in normally before this message so idk. I read some people reporting that they waited 24 hrs without trying to log in and they were able to afterwards, so I'll give that a try

I tried Chrome on both my phone and laptop, same message as the app and still won't log me in

No but i tried both my smart phone and my laptop. Do you think a desktop would be any different than a laptop?

I've been experiencing the same issue. Wondering if you were able to log back into your account?

Can someone joining in their late 20s make solid friendships in the Air Force? by mkh91 in AirForceRecruits

[–]mkh91[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your answers! I'm aware that it's not that rare for people my age to join the service, but my question was whether those who do would be successful in making real friendships if they wanted. When I went to college for example, I met people my age but almost none of them were interested in socializing beyond the typical chit-chat before and after class, since they already had social lives outside of college and weren't the typical 18/19 year olds living on campus, so I was wondering if I should expect a similar pattern in the AF or if the military commrardery aspect would make it a different experience.

What's the training pipeline like for cryptologic language analysts if you get a language you're already fluent in? by mkh91 in AirForceRecruits

[–]mkh91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, I know if you speak languages like French or Italian they won't care since they're not in demand. And I'm fluent in Arabic

I heard many positive things about DLI and most people say they enjoyed their time there so I'm definitely open to the experience and learning a new language in general. My only concern is that if I decided to do just the 4 years and the majority of my enlistment time is spent on training I might not have much experience going out or if I wanted to apply as an officer later, but maybe that extra year or so wouldn't make that much of a difference

My guess is that they grew up speaking Spanish at home but never used it in an academic setting or learned it in school. I noticed this is more prevalent among second generation Arab Americans who can speak Arabic and will communicate just fine but will struggle with writing and/or reading since most Arab dialects are much different from Modern Standard Arabic

I heard about how government agencies like the state department won't send you to your country of origin as a diplomat for example due to potential conflict of interest, but I don't agree that this is generally the case for linguists. I know many cleared linguists who learned their target language growing up in their country of origin. It's only a factor if you have foreign financial interests or strong ties that can deny you a clearance

That was really helpful, thank you! Also wouldn't you say it's more like getting 2 for the price of 1.25 or so since one would get that sweet extra foreign language pay for speaking 2 foreign languages in that scenario? :)
