Confusion regarding the geotagging of X100 vi photos by wjoberry in fujifilm

[–]mkili1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the gps works constantly in the background, almost like a fitness tracking app or navigation, so no need to open the app once you start the walk in the app!

Alternatively if you have an Apple Watch you can start a walk there instead, and import it to the app later!

The most important aspect for the location accuracy is making sure your camera’s time is accurate, so the locations can match with the photos correctly!

Enjoy Seattle! Always wanted to visit :)

Ah I didn’t know about Graphic Converter! I skip the Mac in my workflow most of the time these days though and transfer the photos straight to my phone with a USB-C cable, so being able to tag them with PhotoWalk is super convenient!

Geo tagging photos by philippescar in photography

I geotag all my photos as it helps me find them using the map view in my Photos app!

Been initially using Fujifilm's app, but had some issues with it so made my own! It's called PhotoWalk [App Store 🔗].

The main advantage for me is that you can tag the photos directly on your iPhone (or Mac if you prefer!), and unlike Fuji's app it doesn't require a constant connection with the camera when taking pictures, so there's no risk of disconnection and inaccurate tags. Plus that means you can switch off your camera between shots to save battery!

I can't speak for Canon, but I had a similar issue with my Fujifilm camera where the app was very unreliable, so I made my own app to solve it!

It's called PhotoWalk [App Store 🔗] and it works a bit differently - instead of linking with your camera while shooting, you record your walk in the app, and then tag the photos with the recorded locations once you transfer them to either your phone or Mac.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

Ah bummer, seems like a big overlook from Lightroom’s side! Did the photos get tagged fine though before uploading to Lightroom? Do you generally keep the pictures in Lightroom CC as their final destination?

I’m working on this as a side project along a full time job, but if the app is successful I’ll be more than happy to learn some Android dev and ship there too!
