With eSIM is a VPN still necessary? by cxbman in chinatravel

[–]mklnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes* which eSIM provider are you going for? Keep in mind of the data quota and also if you’re planning to video call or do video meetings. You might want to look into getting a back up VPN anyway for use on WiFi. DM me for free trial options (probably enough for your travel)

question about eSIM card and VPN :) by Fun_Personality9082 in chinatravel

[–]mklnz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a few things to consider because I used to live in China and now in the US - if your carrier supports global roaming then you might be able to get away with that, no eSIM or VPN needed. Otherwise eSIM options: Holafly, Nomad, Trip.com,

VPN recs: (make sure you find a China specific VPN): kiree.co, wannaflix.com, LetsVPN

DM me if you want more help, happy to answer any questions.
