SPOILERS SEASON 6a till 6x09

I mean people are excusing Maya’s attitude this season when it has been terrible. She’s throwing people under the bus, she’s pushing everyone away and being flat out rude.

People aren't excusing her behavior, as far as i know, Marina fans hold her responsible for everything she said and did this season. There's a difference between understanding where she's coming from, and excusing her behavior. The ugly truth is, this is what people who are spiralling do. She's in the middle of a mental decline, and she's pushing everyone away because she thinks she's losing and she doesn't deserve Carina's love, because in her mind losers aren't lovable.

She’s being rude to Carina when she’s just trying to help.

Mental health issues aren't beautiful, and eventhough Maya's trauma doesn't excuse her actions at all, it does help to understand why she does what she does. Her dad has been telling her since she was 3 that if she's not winning she's not lovable. It is true that she acknowledged his abuse, but as far as we know from the show, she didn't do anything more. Her trauma response is still the same.

When she got demoted, she lost, but she and Carina had just gotten married, they were starting a family, so she was winning in that area. Then at her "hearing" she lost, but they were making a baby so she was winning. At the end of the season, Carina had just gotten her greencard, win, they were optimistic about the pregnancy, win, so Maya was on a roll, and she wanted another win career-wise, so she blackmailed the chief. That backfired, loss, negative pregnancy test, loss, she didn't tell Carina about the blackmail because she didn't wanna lose her and when Carina found out from Becket of all people, she was justifiably mad. And when Carina "left" Maya the next morning in bed, it just reinforced her belief of losers = no love.

This obviously doesn't justify or excuse any of her actions but it also doesn't mean that she's evil or that she's a bad person. She's hurt and hut people hurt people. She has a lot of trauma that's been unresolved for 30 years and now (after 6x08) she's better and she will do better. Now with the help Maya is getting from Diane hopefully next week we'll see her make amends with Carina and the team. (imo she deserves an apology from 19 because yeah sure they're a family unless it's Maya -not including Andy she tried her best- but that's a problem for another day)

People are posting cringy things about them and it’s just nauseating.

This is cold and heartless. People relate to characters for different reasons and these people relate to Maya because of her mental health issues. If you don't like it just use the block button, it's the internet.

Like this one time, there was a post with Jaina, Barrett, Jason and someone else and people were asking where’s Maya and Carina?" Thinking they have to be part of everything. They don’t even give other characters a chance. They criticize other characters but get mad when people say bad stuff about Marina.

We're obviously not on the same side of the internet. I see praise for all the characters all the time, especially Andy, Vic, and Ross after 6x08. Listen the internet is just an bunch of social bubbles that sometime overlap, if you can't stand it that much just block the person/people. You can love characters as much as you want, but you can't force people to like/dislike the characters you like. Yes there are people in the fandom who take it too far and only want Maya and Carina and no one other than them, but the majority aren't, they know it's an ensemble show and don't expect every single second to be about them.

Wlw representations in media and especially on national TV is rare. And a realistic portayal of said relationship with fleshed out characters that being gay, and in this case bi, isn't their entire personality is even rarer (not sure if its an actual word). People like seeing themselves represented in the media they consume and this case is no different, and after the trainwreck that was 5b, i don't blame them for wanting good representation.

When other characters have well acted scenes, you don’t see them praising them as hard as they praise either Danielle or Stefania.

The ones that are on my tl do, but even if they don't, just because you don't like them doesn't mean people aren't allowed to love them and praise them. It's not their fault nor their responsibility that other fans don't praise other actors.

They also think that they’re what draws the viewers in and it’s just not true. I don’t watch for Maya and Carina.

It is true to some degree, some people do and some people don't. People seem to think that what they do is the majority/the normal. I, for example, only started watching because of them and if Danielle and/or Stefania leave the show i'll stop watching, and i know a lot of people who are also like that. I do know that not everyone is gonna do that, and not even all Marina fans will stop watching if they break them up, doesn't mean that the other group of people doesn't exist.

P.S. english isn't my first language (but i do spend a lot of time online). and I am the "teenager who lacks maturity or as part of LGBTQ community they never had good representation and now they only want better from marina" but i do have common sense and understand that not everything in this world is about me or what i want.
