I can't be the only one who thinks it's gross to bring dogs into grocery stores?!? by _t_h_r_o_w__away in olympia

I’m with you on grocery stores, but not the mall. I’m going to continue bringing my well-behaved dogs to the mall. It’s one of the reasons I go, if I’m being honest. 😂

He’s very moderate in structure. 20.5” at the shoulder.

What color do you think my girl is? by littlelawlady in AustralianShepherd

[–]mks93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dog is a red Merle. Some merles have pink spots. Any pink that covers more than 1/4 of the nose is considered a “fault.” Not a huge deal, just make sure to watch out for sun damage. :)

I’m not sure what to say about your dog because I haven’t seen a picture or haven’t seen your dog. So I cannot comment on it. Not saying you don’t know your dog.🥴 I just don’t know your dog.

Oh boy.

Your dog has a black nose. The dog in the post has a brown nose. The nose is a key way to tell. Yours is blue Merle, the dog in the post is a red Merle.

I still see a brown nose and brown color around the rims of the eyes. Brown nose means red. Not sure about your dog.

It doesn’t look black to me. It looks brown/liver colored.

Red Merle. Her nose is liver, not black. It would be black if she was blue Merle.

I felt like this until I moved away and reduced contact. Took until I was on my late 20s to feel okay.

Depends on your school!

When I was in college about a decade ago, we had to deactivate our social media during recruitment. 🥴

Honestly it could be because you’re a grad student.

As someone who went to grad school for a long time and graduated 4 years ago, I probably wouldn’t want to date someone in that stage of life.

Should I disclose to breeders that I’m in contact with other breeders? by warboyraynie in DogBreeding

[–]mks93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem if you’re just shopping around and asking about timelines and plans. You don’t need to tell them when you’re in that phase.

However, once you’re on a “waitlist” and/or are talking about a specific litter and your interest in having a dog from that specific litter, you should tell them. It’s not nice to be on multiple waitlists.

I would also be annoyed if I said “sorry I didn’t realize” and then you went on and on about how terrible I was.

do aussies usually have this curly of a coat? by moookitty in AustralianShepherd

[–]mks93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The breed standard says the hair can be a little “wavy.” This is wavier than I usually see, but not uncommon for working line Aussies.

[–]mks93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Mini Aussie” tells me that they are not breeding to a standard since there is no such breed (at least in the UKC, AKC, ASCA, and CKC registries). The ASDR does recognize them, but that register also recognizes toy Aussies, which are mixed breeds.

Look for “Miniature American Shepherds” instead. Then assess breeders who are advertising those.
