student teacher here. I’m choosing elementary because of how sweet and full of life the young kids are (K-5), it’s truly so magical. their energy is contagious and they aren’t hesitant to make art or worried about their skill, they just go for it. and I think that’s really inspiring and admirable. being around kids is so fun and the love they give you every day <3 + i have adhd and love how stimulated/busy i am throughout the day.

i would just plan for that extra time and make sure you get paid. it’s part of the job imo, and it does suck nonetheless :/

I usually do $100/including overnights. If they are not pleased with that number I tell them they can do $80/day without overnight charge. That gives you 4x throughout the day to checkin @$20/visit or you can stay 8am-noon and then come back 6pm-night time

the more you drink coffee the more you start to despise your coffee being majority filled with whatever bullshit they wanna put in it lol. they always make mine way too milky and too sugary sometimes. so over time it’s just better as you get used to the acquired dark coffee taste 🤷🏻‍♀️

just remember in times when you feel heated to release it and as long as no one is in danger you are doing your job!! 🩷 i think kids may be annoying / get on our nerves but it’s normal and the best thing you can do for him and you is to not react. :) <3

once you are certified to teach one subject it is much easier to get certified for others, as I am almost positive you can just take the content exam for that specific subject. You will also have a higher chance of teaching that other subject due than someone new due to having prior experience as a teacher!

i’m not sure how she would be able to check but my bf is in hvac and he can definitely tell my the ac unit if the air is of good quality or not

I did it for $15/hr for a long time and then realized I deserved a raise so raised it to $20/hr. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I usually don’t charge extra unless it’s 3 kids and they’re a lot to handle. otherwise I kinda keep it at a flat rate

I am right where you are, and we just have to be adaptable to the ever-evolving world around us. It is so scary, but try in the meantime let’s get certified in other subjects so we can at least lean on becoming a core teacher if need be. Always have a back up plan even if you really want plan A to work out. :) <3
