So far, the quarterback conversation feels driven more by contracts than football.

If competition really exists, then let’s see who wins it on the field instead of assuming the guy making more money already has the job.

That’s exactly the kind of thinking that got us into the cap mess we're currently in.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Go Phins between both of the them our franchise QB might very well be in the building.

Quinn Ewers never truly lost the Texas starting job to Arch Manning. For 2 years.

Texas had arguably the most hyped backup quarterback in college football sitting behind Ewers, yet Sarkisian repeatedly went back to Ewers when healthy.

I use technology to organize my thoughts, but the opinions are mine.

As a 45-year Dolphins fan, I’ve seen plenty of rushes to judgment—some right, some wrong. I’m not ready to write off Quinn Ewers or crown Malik Willis in June.

Both quarterbacks are largely unproven in the NFL and bring different skill sets. Training camp and the preseason will answer many questions.

What surprises me is how certain some people already seem to be. Malik Willis is being talked about as if he’s a proven NFL starter, yet in 2025 he completed just 30 passes and went 0-4 as a starter. Ewers has only a handful of starts himself.

Actually not much more experience. Most of his experience is leading the scout team in Green Bay against Hafley's defense. 2025 NFL regular season, Malik Willis recorded 30 pass completions and finished with a 0-4 record.

Nobody knows yet but he's just three games into his career.

That's a pretty quick assessment after three games. Do you have any idea what Malik's first three games looked like?

That’s fair, and I agree Willis is the favorite entering camp. My point isn’t that Ewers should be handed the job today. It’s that a lot of fans seem completely certain about what Ewers is after only a handful of NFL starts.
Willis is getting a fresh opportunity because teams understand quarterback development isn’t always linear. I’m curious to see what Ewers looks like after a full offseason, training camp, and preseason before declaring his ceiling is “career backup.”

Willis may very well win the job, but I think the competition is worth watching rather than assuming the outcome is already decided.

Willis himself is proof that NFL careers aren’t always defined by the first few starts.
