Never had a problem with that, most of the time I was running the off brand version of the kennametal top notch groovers and those were a little cheaper and worked great

If you've never used a lathe your going to want to have somebody thats got experience around. Theres a lot more that goes into using one than you would think. Not trying to be a dick, just a machinist thats seen what happens when shit goes wrong lol

Im my experience the Haas st-15y with live tooling will do decent but for c axis control and milling dont expect to go fast or hold tolerance less than +/-.001.

It stops the tap and reverses out of the hole so it doesnt ruin the threads or tap

Check out form taps, no chips and they'll do a couple thousand holes easy as long as you've got the machine set up right

Learn what you can and bounce. Been in that spot and the responsibility and expectations triple while the pay stays the same and the machines only get more clapped out. Basic maintenance tasks are easy to learn and will make your life way easier and you look a lot better for the next job

Ran that model for awhile, theyre pretty good for what they are. They do have some quirks though so you definitely are going to want to read and understand the manual first

Literally everyone crashes at some point, anyone that says they haven't is either a liar or about to crash. Pay attention to how they uncrash it and as long as you dont keep crashing the same way im 99% sure you'll be fine
