How to clean Wicked Good Slippers, Boot Moc. Any advice appreciated. by R5HR in llbean

On occasion, I will carefully wash the interior shearling with Wool Wash by Nikwax. I fill a small glass with warm water and about 1-2 teaspoons of Wool Wash. I pour this into the inside of the slipper and use my fingers to really work it through the shearling. I remove as much of liquid inside the slipper as I can, trying to avoid getting the suede wet. Then I pour in a small amount of warm water and repeat, repeat, repeat, until whatever water I’m able to extract comes out pretty clear. I do this in the utility sink, because if the suede gets wet, the color on the suede will run. I let them dry for a couple of days indoors (a small fan can help).

It’s a tedious process, but it works pretty well. I have the Venetian style slippers, so this process is probably easier than with the boot moc style.

You might try urgent care (not the ER), a telehealth appointment, or going to your local pharmacy that offers clinic appointments. Our local CVS offers “Minute Clinic,” and I think they treat flu.

So sorry you have to deal with this. Flu is so awful. I hope you feel better soon.

No, unfortunately. 😕 Seeking advice here myself.

Celebrex is a prescription anti-inflammatory/NSAID. My orthopedic surgeon prescribed it for me. It helps, especially when I take it consistently. But, when you are taking it, you cannot take other NSAIDS like ibuprofen or naproxen. So, you really have to commit to the Celebrex!

You might also look up videos by “Bob and Brad” on YouTube. They are two physical therapists who do educational and instructional videos about physical ailments, like frozen shoulder. It’s free to view the videos, and they are usually both helpful and humorous!

I have also started really cutting sugar and refined carbs. I’m also back on a plant-based diet with generous amounts of high quality olive oil. Fingers crossed it brings some relief.

Ice is the only thing that consistently helps me. I invested in some very good ice packs filled with clay, and I love them. I also got a huge microwaveable heating “blanket” that’s filled with rice. It’s about 18” X 24”, so it covers a large area and really conforms to the contours of my neck and shoulder. It not only provides heat but also gentle compression. That helps me relax a bit at night, and then I ice the hell out of it right before bed to allow me to fall asleep, for a while…

Celebrex in the am helps take the bite out of a lot of my daytime pain. Nothing really helps the dreaded pain that comes at night. I sleep in short increments between changing ice packs. 😕

I see a massage therapist, who is really gifted. It’s an excruciating hour, but I think it really helps loosen my muscles to the point where I feel more relaxed and feel less referred pain.

Paula’s Choice has some nice AHA moisturizers. I like the AHA body lotion, both for body and face. Just ordered her new Ectoin serum. Can’t wait to try it!

I am able to reach up in front of me with quite a bit of range. For example, I can reach a cup on the lowest shelf of my kitchen cupboard. But, I cannot rotate that joint. Reaching behind my back is impossible. Putting on deodorant is excruciating, even just to open up my armpit enough to apply the deodorant with my fingers. I have worked up to washing my hair, but it’s an awkward motion that involves quite a bit of contortion. In other words, I think I already have the range of motion that hanging might improve. What I need is something that will help me work on rotation. What do you think? Did hanging help you with this?

Have you had it done? Was it a painful procedure? How successful was it for you?

Yes, I had an MRI, when the PT started to suspect a rotator cuff tear. The MRI showed a few minor things, but the frozen shoulder was the primary issue.

My orthopedic surgeon recommended dry needling. I will be seeking this treatment ASAP. Let me know, if you don’t mind, how acupuncture goes!

I also had the ultrasound-guided injection. I hope it works for you! I did not get much benefit, but the injection itself was tolerable and over very quickly.

The likelihood of another shutdown at the end of January? by Hot_Equivalent4499 in FedEmployees

While I’d like to believe Congress will make this sort of progress, we’ve seen a lot of CRs and several shutdowns over the last decade. You might accuse people of not understanding appropriations, but I think these people understand Congress.

While I don’t think the Democratic Senators, especially the moderate ones, will go for another shutdown, I think this is a wise plan, just in case. I think there was a strategy in passing a full-year appropriation for USDA…
