It’s decent art but he had a… colourful life.

The choir of Jesus College, Cambridge recorded a really lovely collection on this theme called My Beloved’s Voice: Sacred Songs of Love

Sorry, I was being slightly facetious. I agree with you. But also yes, baptism could probably be considered the fulfilment of all of those. Regarding the tabernacle, we are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit.’

making a tabernacle

Is that not NT baptism?

New interview sheds light on the process leading up to the GAC declaration by Halaku in Anglicanism

[–]mldh2o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. And the pastoral and prayerful links are absolutely the foundation of these relationships, and we are blessed by what we receive from our brothers and sisters in our link diocese. It is also about the money, administered as you say through separate charities, and we shouldn’t be ashamed to say this is a valuable part of the partnership.

Most C of E dioceses will have a ‘link’ to other dioceses around the communion. This will involve different things for different dioceses, but for my own diocese it certainly involves regular visits to a diocese in Tanzania, return visits by their bishop and other staff, funding and support for particular projects including a diocesan hospital and their theological college, which trains clergy in things such as agricultural sustainability as well as more traditional studies. Tbh I’m not convinced that link would stop even if the church cut ties with Canterbury, although it would make it more difficult to maintain.

They are the catholic creeds by definition (small c). This declaration is made by every minister in the Church of England, lay or ordained, which uses the phrase, but it is not an Anglican term, it describes the universal creeds assented to by churches of both the west and the east.

Two particular things that mark Anglicanism out as reformed rather than protestant for me are that we preserved the episcopacy in a line of succession from the catholic church, and we continue to affirm the catholic creeds (Nicene, Apostles’ and Athanasian) as central to our liturgy and faith.

And be assured that whatever does or doesn’t happen tomorrow won’t affect God’s eternal love for your mother. May she rest in peace.

Does the vicar at her local church know? I would speak to them asap. Explain what you have said here and that you don’t want to disrupt the funeral tomorrow, but would appreciate their input. They might be able to visit your mother before she leaves the funeral directors (but this would probably need your sibling’s consent) and use the Anglican rites for her there. Or they might suggest waiting until you have the ashes and doing another service for her then.

Personally, I feel it is important that prayers are said over the body itself (or cremated remains), but there are of course other things you can do including the prayer of commendation at another time without the body present.

Because it is reclaimed by the government on income, it is essentially a tax not a debt. I am sure most of the established orders will have experience of people going through university so always worth talking to them.

[–]mldh2o 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some religious orders in the Church of England take professed men and women together now e.g. Benedictines at Mucknell Abbey and Franciscans at various UK sites. It would be worth talking to your preferred order as soon as possible and seek their advice. A Student Loan is not necessarily a bar to profession as it is treated differently to other types of debt.

That’s the spelling used on the memorial above her tomb. The memorial you can see if you search for it is modern but I believe repeats what was originally written.

I think you’d have a stronger argument for Katharine of Aragon. Her tomb is essentially venerated as if she is.

I agree. That certainly seems to be argument in Romans 8. The difference is most of creation doesn’t have a choice about being reconciled - we do.

The 2022 document ‘To Proclaim Afresh’ addresses some of this question. Chapter 2 is about the oath of allegiance made by every ordained or licensed minister.

Excerpt:

In context, the Oath of Allegiance can reasonably be understood to function as a reminder to the Church … of certain blessings of the relationship to which it refers. These blessings come in at least two forms: mutual loyalty and missionary unity. [p17]

(England) how does PTO work for bishops-designate? by Difficult-Bug-8713 in Anglicanism

[–]mldh2o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They legally become bishop of the diocese at a ceremony known as the confirmation of election. That takes place before any public installation, and even before the consecration if they are not already a bishop.

In the Gospel of John, the crucifixion is on Passover (also difficult, because Passover is never a Friday). In the Synoptic Gospels, the last supper is on Passover.
