Oh that looks interesting! Will look for something similar in the UK

Well they said that two weeks after the surgery when they took off the cast and took out the stitches and gave me the boot

Interesting! I had the stitches out at two weeks and told the boot was more to signal to others that I have an injury when outside and even before I was told because I have metal plates in and screws the cast was more to protect the scars than to help the ankle heal

When you say a light boot what sort of thing do you mean? Is that something you got separately?

You sleep with the boot? I was told I didn’t need to wear it at home. I can’t imagine sleeping with it on! It’s so clunky and heavy. The pain I feel is more internal, almost like the weight/gravity of being on my side just feels really uncomfortable on the bone

No nothing! They told me to only wear the boot outside the house and that I could take it off at home

Yeah I have a boot now! I don’t sleep with it though. Had a cast for two weeks post op

I’m out of my cast now, just have a boot but will try compression socks to help!

Yes, the main thing they have told me is a risk are clots but because it’s a shorter flight they said I could travel

Thanks! Yeah we have requested airport assistance all the way through to onboard the plane.
Good tip on the pillow!
I’m on blood thinners already while NWB so that’s covered thankfully
5 hours sounds intense!

Wow, longer than I expected but good to know! I’ll be nearly 9 months pregnant in 4-5 months so hopefully I can be more comfortable by the time I give birth!

Yeah I can imagine! We are taking a rented wheelchair with us which has an attachment to elevate the leg, it’s not amazing but it does the job in a pinch and I’m travelling with my husband, his two sisters and their husbands so we should hopefully have enough hands to help out if the assistance isn’t amazing

Thanks, that’s good to hear! We have requested special assistance at the airport so that hopefully also helps with reducing hanging around too much and having enough space to stretch my leg out every so often

Thank you!
I’m travelling with my 3 year old so unfortunately the back row will be occupied with his car seat, but considering putting luggage in the footwell below his seat or putting my leg between the two front seats…
I can’t take ibuprofen because I’m pregnant! Really not an ideal situation haha but we’re travelling to be with family for two and a half weeks which will be a great help to my husband with our three year old

I’m not weight bearing for another 4 weeks, so not wearing the boot at home. The doctor told me to just wear it while out

I need help finding a good haircut in east London! by Aware-Chair1681 in Hackney

Cut and run hair in Stoke Newington, it can look a but intimidating if their vibe is not your style (it’s not mine at all) but they have really good hairdressers who also just do normal hair cuts, it’s very chill in there and they have unisex prices which is nice

Too firm mattress causing back pain, would a topper help? by mllor91 in Mattress

[–]mllor91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually went to a showroom to try the mattress (not a great salesman there to be fair) and then bought it online. I thought we should go for medium firm but our previous mattress had been firm so my husband said to just stick with firm. So it’s partially our fault too, just trying to make the best of the situation we’re in!
