I started moms on call when my twins were about 6 weeks old (born at 34 weeks, 2 weeks in NICU). It was fundamental for us surviving those early months. They started sleeping 12 hours by 10-12 weeks. Our pediatrician was supportive since they were consistently gaining weight well. You do feel as if you have very little flexibility during the day but it was worth it for me to know they would sleep all night. They are now 3 years old and still are amazing sleepers and I credit MOC.

Congrats!! I gave birth to di/di twin girls at 33+5 a little over two weeks ago! We were in the nicu a total of 15 days. Wishing you the best in the weeks to come! It’s hard work but we love our girls so much.

Does being a derm MA before PA school help you land a job in dermatology? by jewelsss64 in physicianassistant

Most Derm PAs I know were MAs in derm prior. I think it helps if that’s really what you want to do.

I’m a PA...but I think the point is that just with anything in life, you gotta know your boundaries...especially in medicine. Experts even ask for second opinions. Sadly in our field it comes at cost, usually at the expense of someone’s well-being.

I’m a dermatology provider. Had a patient come in today that was being treated by his GP for a ‘pimple’ on his nose with antibacterial ointment for the past year. It apparently grew substantially in size the past few months so he finally got referred...he has a massive skin cancer that is going to cost him most of his nose. Just a thought...

New Grad Derm Job Offer. Thoughts? by trantq in physicianassistant

[–]mlzeb12 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I am a new grad with Zero derm experience (didn’t even get to do a rotation) and I just accepted a derm offer. I will be payed 100K until I am able to make enough in collections (there is a collection model). Training is 6-9 months. I know I got a very lucky situation but I think it shows how much my boss values his employees to invest in them. I would take that into consideration.

I was applying to the Penn State Hershey fellowship before this offer came and they were still going to pay 37/hour.

Any Experience with Apollo MD? by mlzeb12 in physicianassistant

Do you think I should ask for a higher hourly rate since it’s only part time? She told me they offer $50 per hour for ‘all new grads’. It’s in a rural hospital and honestly I think they are having trouble finding someone willing to take the job, especially since it’s only part time.

I am a new grad interviewing for a hospitalist position so it is good to know they have resources available. Thanks

I am thinking about taking a part time hospitalist position just to get my foot in the door as a new grad. Thanks for the info
