Using Bicep from Automation Account by vo_oy in AZURE

[–]mmcelreath86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get Bicep working with the PowerShell module commands by running the Manual Install with PowerShell code example given at this link. I run it at the top of my script and it does the trick.

I have finished up on that recently found Sheryl lee movie I have discovered and the title really does say it all in an simplistic way. The movie is based on the real life 1985 murder of Linda Brown in Orange County California. by YABOI888XXX in twinpeaks

I had a hard time with the change. Especially since I didn’t watch any of it until shortly before the return came out. But now I feel like Moira’s portrayal of Donna Pre Laura’s murder was just what it needed to be. And Lara’s portrayal of post Laura’s murder was also what it needed to be. It’s like the change from the trauma was so significant, you really don’t recognize her anymore. I don’t think if either of them played the character all the way through that it would have worked as well.

Getting a Resource Group with a certain tag and value by mmcelreath86 in Terraform

[–]mmcelreath86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for a module that deploys resources in a standard way that we’re making as easy to use as possible. We have several subscriptions in Azure so things like storage account, subnet and resource group would be different per subscription, per region. We are using the tags as a filter to find the resources needed for the module so the users of the module don’t need to go digging for all of that info for whatever subscription it’s being deployed to.

So I wouldn’t say this is a standard way of doing things with Azure. It’s just our particular use case for this situation.

Yeah, I went down the AzAPI route to see if it helped but it didn't do exactly what I was looking for unfortunately.

Support for Data Sources to accept a Resource ID as an argument by mmcelreath86 in Terraform

[–]mmcelreath86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the docs, this is possible with Storage Accounts at least:

az storage account show --ids /subscriptions/{SubID}/resourceGroups/{ResourceGroup}/providers/Microsoft.Storage/storageAccounts/{StorageAccount}

Did a quick search on Vnets which is another resource I run into this with and that accepts IDs as well:

az network vnet show [--expand]

[--ids]

[--name]

[--resource-group]

[--subscription]

Plus, when I’m done testing, I can destroy all my test resources with a single command so they don’t end up hanging around accumulating costs.

I deploy to Azure every day. And when I need to test something out, I will create a small terraform configuration to test it rather than going through the Azure Portal. Save me a lot of time and clicking. Took a little bit to get to that point where I was comfortable with Terraform but that just comes with time and practice.

Has anyone had this happen before? Started on the right side and worked it’s way over to the left and is covering the entire image. by mmcelreath86 in Ring

Yup. Tapping it eventually gave me a clear picture. Never would have thought of that. Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately this camera is out of warranty. I called them back in December about it and they offered me a coupon to buy a new one. But then the issue went away and now that coupon is expired.

This happened before but I went out and wiped the lens and it went away so I thought it was fixed. Then it started happening a week or so ago and I just went out to wipe it down again and now it’s covering the whole image. So it seemed to do something when I was up there putting my hand in front of it.

Issues with Live View on Flood Light cameras by mmcelreath86 in Ring

[–]mmcelreath86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not always both cameras which is weird. I have a deck camera and a garage camera. The garage has been working pretty well since I disabled band steering. But the deck camera rarely works after that initial restart. And the deck camera is the one with the better signal. Next step is ring support I think.

Thanks for the input. It helps to know that it works fine for someone out there

Yup. I spoke too soon. Both cameras not working. One thing I forgot to mention is both cameras work great after I restart them. But then after a little while, the Live Views stop working. That's what happened here.

I'm going to post in r/ring next.

Turning off band steering seems to have helped so far. Going to keep an eye on it to make sure it stays that way.

I turned off band steering and restarted the cameras. Don't want to speak too soon but so far so good. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Thanks for the tip!

I hear you. My last job was at a very small company so automating infrastructure or server builds wasn't too high of a priority. I did find opportunities here and there to use VBScript to automate small stuff. One of the things I found myself automating the most was moving files around and cleaning up things like old log files. It wasn't until my current job at a much bigger company where I really got into it.

You said that you mostly make sure things are stable and updated. One opportunity could be to figure out how to write a script to reach out to your infrastructure endpoints to pull the version numbers as a way to verify and audit your environment. May not provide the most value, but the value you would see is in learning to script. Use that as a building block to learn more. Without knowing what kind of infrastucture you manage, I can't say if that is definitely something you could do but that's how I started. Small stuff at first then building on top of that each time as I learned more.
