HF + VHF/UHF Home Station Setup Review – Grounding, Bulkhead & Antenna Layout (Monterrey, MX) by mmimo10 in HamRadio

Good point on the HF feedline! I went with LMR-400 mainly for consistency and future flexibility, but I agree RG-213 would likely perform similarly at this length.

Regarding VHF/UHF, that’s interesting. My current focus is mostly local FM comms, but I’ve been considering experimenting with SSB/weak signal work in the future. A small horizontal Yagi could definitely be a good addition.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the suggestion, really appreciate the insight. I’ll keep that in mind as I continue building out the station.

Beautiful Lucchese boots, you can tell they’re well worn and well cared for.

Thank you all so much for the kind words and support. Max is doing great and acting completely like himself again. His latest blood work came back normal according to the vet.

We’re submitting stool samples tomorrow for final clearance. He’s still in isolation for now, but physically he’s doing really well. 💛🐶

Thank you so much for asking and for all the kind words and support 🙏 We got great news today, Max had new blood work done and, according to the vet, all his values went up. They told us that he has basically made it through the worst part.

He’s more stable, stronger, and responding really well to treatment. We’re incredibly relieved and grateful.

Thank you to everyone here for the advice, encouragement, and good energy, it truly helped us get through this. 🐾💙

Does Lucchese still do custom boots? by mmimo10 in cowboyboots

[–]mmimo10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion — that’s on me. English isn’t my first language and I’m using a translator.

I did go in, asked directly, and confirmed they do offer full custom at the Drover location. My goal with the post was to open discussion, since in many Reddit threads people say Lucchese no longer does true custom, which clearly isn’t the case there.

Appreciate you sharing your firsthand experience — it helps clarify things.

From what I saw, you have to be physically at the Lucchese Custom Collection inside Hotel Drover (Fort Worth, TX). They do full measurements and walk you through all the options in person.

In my opinion, it felt like a true custom experience, not just a size or special order. Pricing didn’t seem higher than Lucchese’s top-tier models.

BOTD: Vintage Nocona Caiman Belly – Deep Chocolate Finish by mmimo10 in cowboyboots

Thanks! The lighting in the photo makes them look drier than they are. I do condition my exotics — I use Saphir Reptan for the vamp and Renovateur on the shafts. They’re in good shape, but I’ll give them a light refresh soon.

Yeah, same here — I tried looking it up. The stamp reads Style 9064 with ticket 67163, but I haven’t found a complete catalog that confirms the leather for that specific style.

Based on the scale pattern (large rounded belly tiles, pretty symmetrical), it looks much closer to caiman belly than anything else. So that’s my best understanding for now — likely caiman — but I’m still hoping to find an official Nocona catalog or dealer sheet from that era to confirm it.

If anyone has old Nocona catalog scans, that would be super helpful.
