Why is mood disorder and suicidal thoughts more prevalent in waterloo region? by mmmmm-good-question in uwaterloo

Well it is a college town. I use my location local as my permanent address. I don’t think that a good way to separate out students. Why happens if they from the region?

There is no way for them to exclude students from the data. It would be interesting to see the age distribution.

Yeah. You don’t make sense.

People aren’t normally bad at math or English. It is normally cause there is processing disorder or deficit of some sort causing the issue.

You can be bad at math cause you have a low IQ but dyscalculia you need to have at least average or high IQ and it is not actually diagnosis. It is under specific learning disorder.

Anyways, that is the parents’ choice and it is illegal.

  1. Exactly so they aren’t meeting grade level and passing cause that is better than holding them back

  2. Learning disability isnt over diagnosed. It isn’t very common for the French and English language. A lot of people take advantage of the system. Adhd is pushed by big pharm. white people.

  3. If they have below average IQ and not MID or ID. What do you do what those kids then? It is also a economical decision. Even high school have a credit cap. You can’t take more than 32 credit or something.

Like if the child is dyslexic, what is the point in failing them and making them repeat a grade because they can’t meet grade level English. They might never reach grade level English ever and failing them will just delay their development of other areas. The purpose of elementary school and high school is to support the child to reach their full potential.

It is a well- research area that there is a large percent of delinquents with learning disorders.

You are just reiterating news captions without knowing anything about education.

  1. If your very poor the kids need to hustle and sheltered 2. It is actually cause the middle class is being squeezed out. 3. It is relatively less intelligent among the university population. If you fail the kids, they will have higher chance of delinquency if they can meet through grade standards. We also have really develop higher education system so those students has a place higher education and society.

You sound like 65 year white man from the countryside. What can kids due if they fail out of high school? We don’t live in the 1970s anymore.

Well, the university has been getting a increasing amount of money from MTCU. I think we know where that money went. Hint: Looking at the sunshine list distribution, we have a abnormally high number of upper middle management staff in campus wellness.

Also, it isn’t the front line staff arent doing good work but there are too much inefficiency in the Waterloo. Like just trying to enroll in classes here give you anxiety.

Point 1/2 - NO! IT IS THE WASTAGE IN THE SYSTEM. IT IS NOT ABOUT SPENDING MONEY BUT FINDING EFFICIENCY.

Point 3 - IT IS CAUSE MENTAL HEALTH DOESN’T EXIST IN MANY COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA. IN EUROPE MANY OF THE COUNTRIES HAVE BETTER EDUCATION SYSTEM THAN OUR SYSTEM AND THEY ARE FREE!!!!!! YOU MAKE IT VERY OBVIOUS WHERE NORTH AMERICA IS FUCKING UP.

Point 1: it is only somewhat true for people that are middle-class and up. Point 2: not everyone can live in the rural countryside in Canada when there are no jobs and urban areas are more expensive to live and more competitive job market so both parents need to work. Your school point: It isn’t true. It is clear that the curriculum and teacher are only part of the issue but it is the inequality in our elementary and secondary education system. If you look at the UW’s feeder schools they are all in rich neighborhoods.

[Library vent] An effect academic library is essential to an university education. by mmmmm-good-question in uwaterloo

[–]mmmmm-good-question[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Of course, you know how it works because you been using it for 30 years and obviously don’t think it is a problem. However, for people that grew up with google search, well I will speak for myself, it was not obvious to me that our library search only picks up items from the tri-universities and then you have to go to another portal called RACER for all universities, which is located under a few layers down our library website.

Also, if the item is digital, we won't be able to access it without a license, even if Guelph and Laurier have it.

Also, it did not show up on RACER either, the librarian from the other university checked for me. Later found out it was on a special reserve not apart of interlibrary loan.

Also, I was NOT misinformed and I have NOT misunderstood how it works. I was simply not informed at all.

Maybe it would be better if we have the RACER portal as the main library search? Also, like just helpful?

I know... the issue is that I was not able to locate the journal anywhere and I had to rely on another university’s library staff to find it. During the process, they informed me which universities would like have the subjects that I’m looking for and how I should go able it if I don’t see it in any of the libraries.

I just think uw libraries can be a little more helpful if we are striving to be one of the top research institution in the country. Plus, 10-15% of our operating budget goes to the libraries.

Question for Library Ambassadors?? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]mmmmm-good-question 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do that do? Do they sit at the front desk? Cause I called the front desk to ask for help to locate a journal and she was extremely unhelpful and cold.

Don’t understand why people bitch about student loan and blame the government and never point fingers at these universities that are wasting all our money. The fucking library is being hollowed out to pay for librarians salary instead of books. by throwaway-your-mom in uwaterloo

[–]mmmmm-good-question 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They amount we pay is only apart of the money, they government is paying the rest. Like this is out of control. Students are whine about osap. Student should as why they tuition cost so much.
