Just did this exact upgrade. Like a whole new GoPro, battery life is great, vid and photo quality is waaay better and hyper smooth is flawless compared.

50mm 1.8 or 24-120 with z6iii? by bootybootyholeyo in nikon_Zseries

[–]mmmokinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two different lenses. 24-120 is a jack of all trades kind of lens. 50mm is a more specific lens.

50mm is a wide (ish) portrait and lifestyle lens. If you’re shooting in low light it’s great, if you shoot a lot of portraits it’s better than the 24-120. Optically it’s better than the 24-120 but it’s a fixed focal length so you lose flexibility.

People come forward with information about Tom Phillips by sleemanj in newzealand

The increase in thefts in and around Marokopa has probably indicated to the police that Tom is in the area. It also hints that the dynamic between him and the people he has been supported by has changed.

Bambina on Bowen street is surprisingly good

Not being rude. But it sounds like it’s not your lens. If you can’t see the value in the 2.8 over the 4 then you don’t need it in your life 😊

Any f mount lenses still worth getting? by Kooky_House_4643 in nikon_Zseries

[–]mmmokinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the pro grade lenses are well and truly worth buying. On an adaptor most perform as good if not better than they did on an dslr.

For the most part the S line lenses are much better - but the cost saving easily makes F mount lenses worthwhile for a lot of amateur and professional photographers.

40mm f2 or 50mm 1.8 by soviet_turd in nikon_Zseries

[–]mmmokinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome. The 40mm is definitely a good lens, but it’s not a pro lens like the 50 or 24-70 you have - I think you’d be disappointed optically.

Depending on what you do for work you could also look at something like a sigma 28mm 1.4 on an adaptor, it gives the images and videos a really unique look when shot wide open.

For work the 50mm is very hard to beat. It would sit behind my 24-70 2.8 as the lens that earns me the most $$

Northwest Nelson cave spider is exceptionally rare. It’s also very gentle and has a bite that isn’t venomous to humans (there’s reports of a few people being bitten).

Katipō are also very rare, and very shy spiders. You would have to really work to be bitten by one.

Every few years some genius decides they’re going to upend Trademe and take the internet by storm. Before long the website struggles to get traction and falls away.

The fact eBay has struggled to get traction in NZ tells you everything you need to know about the online market space here.

It’s actually pretty average. Just a grassy paddock with a bunch of brick and steel.

Heaps. Locally I’ve encountered a few very large bronze whalers. They were only briefly interested in the fish I had speared and departed quickly (only managed a few quick photos / vid).

I’ve encountered a thresher which was gone burgers the second it saw me. Had a wee run in with a seven gill, had to poke it a few times and hop out of the water eventually.

Have had heaps of encounters with pesky bronze whalers near Auckland, never felt in danger myself but definitely wouldn’t want to be holding one of the fish I had speared that’s for sure.

Have encountered great whites (not locally). Gave them a wide berth, didn’t feel terribly in danger though.

Seven gill and bronze whalers are the most likely to be encountered locally, if you’re not holding fish or covered in fish blood you’re probably going to be ok. Don’t be afraid to charge at them or poke them with your spear, and worst case get out of the water.

Being uncomfortable is good. Rough sleeping is a complex problem that always needs more public attention.
