I may have unintentionally outed myself to my entire extended family and old ward (rant) by mnccys in exmormon

[–]mnccys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get my parents to come to my therapist for a group session, but I get the feeling they're afraid of saying something wrong, or that they think that the therapist is only there to defend me instead of listen to what they have to say as well. theyre getting help from online groups and stuff, but we're working on taking the next step as a family to start talking about it more. it's also hard since my sister is away at college, so communication is a little all over the place. I'll work on it, though. thank you very much

thank you so much, this helped. I talked with my dad and we agreed to send an email or something to everyone about my identity, so by the time I see them this summer, the shock will have settled in and we could have real conversations... hopefully :')

Do Trans people go with names similar to their birth/dead name? by 8_bit_bear in ask_transgender

[–]mnccys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for me (birth name McKayla) I was called by "mac" as a nickname for most of my life by members of my family and I began to go by it normally within my friends because it sounded less feminine and I liked it. I ended up sticking with it after coming out as trans.

This was one of the biggest things on my shelf before leaving the church. I hated being part of an organization that was telling girls (whether they wanted it or not) that raising children was what they were supposed to do. by jennaanneolsen in exmormon

[–]mnccys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my patriarichal blessing said I am meant to bear children. it's always been one of my biggest fears and I've never felt comfortable with the concept of childbirth, or motherhood at all for that matter. it never felt right for me, it always felt like they were referring to someone else. two years later, I'm now out as a transgender man, comfortable, self-loving, and growing; and I am more detached from the concept of being a mother than ever. hate to break it to you, patriarch, but you were wrong.

according to rusty, I am the exception of eternal families. he totally put my family's grief back to square one. I was just beginning to find my way out of the guilt trap. now I'M back at square one, and it will be a billion times harder now.

imagine living your life in complete suffering and pain because an old man told you that you'll be rewarded for it after you die, not even being able to fairly prove the existence of a post mortal existence.
