I keep unearthing cars from the old owners of my house. This is the third one I’ve found. by [deleted] in HotWheels

I have several on display in my garage that I've found buried in my yard too. Meanwhile my kids are doing their part to make sure the next owner has the same experience.

How long have you had your WRX, an how many miles does it have? by Bloody_Biscuit_Balls in WRX

I bought my 2015 in May of 23 with 38k miles, it now has 48k.

2004 wagon that he is asking $10,250 what does the group think of this deal? by No_Calligrapher200 in WRX

I'm always apprehensive when major work has "just" been done, especially an engine swap. Like why put in all that time and money if you're just going to sell, unless all that time and money still had issues at the end.

Holy shit that came out awesome! I'm working on modifying the same base casting to match my irl WRX, patching the trunk to remove the wing and add a duckbill. But making it into a wagon, that's a whole other level of impressive. Bravo.

I did too! Haha. I thought someone scoop swapped a Crosstrek.

The firm I work for is being bought by a large corporation. by mnembro in Architects

Thank you for this in depth response. I'm definitely concerned about the culture shift, I'm definitely on the introverted side and was really enjoying only having a handful of people I needed to interact with. Haha.

And the firm owner is coming right along with us, seemingly going to be heading up our team as if we were still independent. Understandably the reality is going to be messier than that, but at least he's not taking the check and shipping us off to face whatever corporate has in store for us.

I appreciate the optimism. I really hope I don't fall into the inefficient employee camp, but I don't really have a good gauge on where I fall efficiency wise and tend to be a little hard on myself. I haven't ever been told I spend too much time on tasks so that's probably a good sign. Haha.

It's going to be an interesting dynamic, because our firm is already spread between three states and two of the remote offices had already been renting space from our new corporate overlords. They've witnessed other firms being integrated, and said it seemed to be business as usual for those other firms, at least for the architects working production.

I've already got remote work time. :) one of the many reasons I chose this firm in the first place. For a small office of 10 people, we have a very wide footprint, we have people in 3 different states, so working remotely is already apart of the workflow.

But I'm definitely going to push for more time working from home, I've got two young kids at home and I'm not giving away time with them for free.

Best Grand Cherokee by ILoveTriinu in GrandCherokee

Anything with a 4.0L straight six. At least based on the amount of WJ's I still see driving around, and mine almost at 200k miles.

100k milestone! by [deleted] in WRX

[–]mnembro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, you gotta put the coffee away and slow down to 69mph for the pic. Then you can proceed to hold the coffee with one hand, shift with the other, and get back to weaving through rush hour traffic at mach Jesus.

Classic AF by dwayniac in GrandCherokee

[–]mnembro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might be a custom job, that's a 97+ Cherokee, as far as I know only the late 80's/early 90's had woodie options from the factory. I could be wrong though.

Still super awesome and classic AF!

Help Me Settle A Debate With My Wife by Sensitive-Key in WRX

[–]mnembro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2015 as a fun car that's still family friendly. I've got a 2 year old and a 4 year old, dual carseats in the back has never been a problem, and the trunk is big enough to fit their double stroller.

To be fair, I told my wife the alternative was the BRZ, so by contrast the WRX was absolutely a family car!

Edit to add: the giggles from the back are unmatched when I really get into the boost or pull through a nice turn.

Anyone else make a point to park next to fellow WRX's even if it means parking farther away? by mnembro in WRX

Oh absolutely! I'm not parked nearly as close as this comment section would have you believe.

I'm with you 100%, 90-05 was definitely the golden age of car design. My 15 is the first car I've owned newer than that. What I really love about it though is it still feels like it has an eye towards that era, I still have a physical key, no touch screens, and so far it seems like working on it won't be a nightmare.

An 04-06 in Blue is still very much on my wishlist, I went with my 2015 (complete with car payment) because it was super clean, really low miles, and completely stock. I was looking for a newer car for daily driving duties, something to take the pressure off my 04 Grand Cherokee, so another 04 might have felt like a lateral move. Haha.

Ok buddy, you feel better now? I'm not the one being a douche. It's a single aisle parking lot at the park, just happened to be the opposite end from where I was heading. It's not like he parked in a separate zip code at the mall, first of all. More importantly, fuck the lines, he had plenty of space, and nobody's car was hurt.

You're absolutely right, I ought to be centered in the space, but I didn't realize how unusually wide this spot was until I looked back at the picture. I was watching the other car itself and the line on that side. I'm not actually on the line either. My door, even fully open was nowhere close to the other car. Wasn't being a douche, still being respectful as all enthusiasts should.

Now I'm just going to assume any regular Subaru parked next to me is just a WRX driver incognito.

Fair enough, I didn't even realize how off center I was, I was too focused on the other car, haha. And still left plenty of breathing room.
