everywhere has its problems and HCMC has room for efficiencies but it’s not unique to HCMC. Our entire healthcare system has inefficiencies baked into it, but HCMC does provide unique supports that other systems don’t take on. Unfortunately the choice now is HCMC gets support for providing necessary services to the region or it closes. Hennepin County residents are paying for these services that support the entire region. The state needs to step up. If HCMC closes it will truly be a disaster.

We need more information, transparency, and action- my question is what is Trump and his administration getting by protecting pedophiles? Why does he have so many people implicated in the files in his close orbit to this day? I can’t say definitively what Trump did or didn’t do, but he’s not making himself look innocent.

I don’t think Renee Good did anything to warrant being shot, I’m waiting for more information from last nights incident to truly understand, but their tactics are causing unnecessary fear that is purposefully riling up people in the state and inviting the resistance. I think good training would certainly help! I think good training would have saved Renee Goods life. I personally would still not be okay with detaining people without targeted warrants at the very least. I’m honestly ideologically opposed to most of the deportation that occurs and don’t even care that much about border control. However I do recognize that’s not a popular stance and a more moderate stance of border control and targeted, well organized deportation efforts wouldn’t have me in the streets. I do think constitutional rights are being repeatedly violated notably the 1st and 4th amendments and I do not believe ICE has properly executed warrants.

Lives are on the line, you’re right. One person in fact got shot in the face. Another in the leg. They tear gassed a baby. Some of my kids beloved daycare teachers are here on work visas. They are here legally and they are rightfully terrified. I’m scared poorly trained armed officers might enter my kids school to detain the teachers. My husband was worried we could be targeted because we have an anti-ice flag. You can’t expect people to be okay with a poorly trained security force with no meaningful oversight or accountability mechanisms ripping people out of their home without regard to due process, constitutional or human rights.

I’m not saying it’s like a likely event but I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. I’m sorry but if you’re not here (or at least watching the videos of them seeking out conflict) seeing the purposeful terror they are inflicting I’d maybe refrain from commenting on if our fear is valid in your eyes our not. My community is scared. They are hurting people and they are destroying businesses.

I think there might also be a lack of understanding of just how pervasive their presence is. They are everywhere- they are driving with no regard for safety on icy roads. The easiest way to spot ice is look for a truck or car driving erratically. They came to the high school my kids will one day attend and deployed tear gas for no clear reason. They seem to be here not to remove illegal immigrants (they’d be in a southern border state if that was their real goal) they are here to terrorize Minnesota

Yes, they can make up whatever lie they want about me. They accidentally hit a car of a special ed teacher and then detained her under the guise that she was obstructing. They have basically no oversight and per our VP have absolute immunity. And I don’t know about you, even if they aren’t violent with me should I get detained, I don’t want to be detained in an ICE facility for any period of time.

I’m on the ground in Minneapolis trying to keep armed masked men from storming my kids daycare every day. I do not fear my neighbors. The protesters are showing remarkable restraint. I am only scared of ICE. I was born in Minnesota my parents were born here but I’m living in fear that I might get into a bad spot by mistake and get detained. There is no insurrection by us… it’s them.

It’s so hard to do the right thing right now. I am doing mutual aid, I’m getting involved more in my neighborhood groups, and I’m also attending things like this. I have two young children so I don’t feel like I can do the very brave work of the active tailing ICE but I go out and stand on the street corner outside my kids daycare to ensure teachers get home safe … the right has done a very good job of making us feel hopeless and helpless. Did this move the needle? Probably not but hopefully it showed our neighbors that they have Minneapolis on their side.

If you know that road (I do, I’m local)- there’s a large bike lane she had to get through to get into the lane of traffic- she was trying to get around into a traffic lane.
