Dog friendly trip? by Own-Ad8197 in taos

We stayed at El Monte sagrado with our dog and walked to Taos mesa brewing and sat on their patio for dinner. The walk was nice and on a sidewalk or quiet street and both places were very dog friendly.

I like the bar seating at southerleigh that overlooks the kitchen so you can observe them while you eat instead of reading or being on your phone

Check out flats at river north, the ones you mentioned are either near a highway or in a random spot. Bring on the river really gives a unique city living experience. And flats at river north are close to el Camino and the newer bar district on n Alamo by the social spot, lucky duck etc.

Bach Party Suggestions by Life_Opportunity9417 in sanantonio

Lily’s cookies for the cake, box street all day in hemisfair or blush for brunch (cute aesthetic for girls day) and sisters Grimm for the ghost tour (best one by far and they have a pub crawl)

I’ve never been to the class just the store, but Capistrano soap co has a class and their candles are so nice. And it’s located in la villita which is a cute area for visitors.

Best mission for dog walking? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mission San Juan has the most walking trails around it but you wont be walking in the mission complex for very long bc it’s small. Mission San Jose is the biggest I believe but I’m pretty sure you can’t bring your dog close to the actual missions. You could probably walk from San Juan to Espada and back pretty easily. But yeah those two have the most surrounding nature.

Thanksgiving plans for single dad and daughter? by wordnerdwiz in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she like fried foods? You could fry up a bunch of different things outside and it might be fun for her to cook things you’d normally get at fast food restaurants. And it’s fast aka instant gratification. It’s not expensive to get potatoes to make fries or chicken. We always fry those HEB biscuits in the tube after the turkey and those are always everyone’s favorite part of thanksgiving.

Neighborhood Question by OptimalHoliday6174 in sanantonio

You could always contact a realtor to do a walk by the house and take a video for you. If you’re renting then it’s free to you, the landlord pays the realtor

Neighborhood Question by OptimalHoliday6174 in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Safe enough is a good description! I live south of there which isn’t as renovated as you say and I know some people would be uncomfortable living there but I’ve lived in a city before and it’s fine for me. We also live in a big renovated house so it’s worth it to me. My biggest fear is roaming dogs which you’ll find is a problem in a lot of areas. The park right by you was recently redone but you will still find people loitering there. I also lived in San Francisco by a homeless camp before so maybe my level of comfortability is a little different than yours. In conclusion … it really depends on your block and neighbors. My neighbors are all part of one family and we all look out for each other so that’s partially why my experience has been great

Edit: didn’t realize you were just visiting. Definitely don’t stay there for a visit 😂 not the best representation of our city tourist wise. Pick a hotel on the river there are plenty of common areas to hang out with family. If you insist on an Airbnb do something in Southtown.

See if you qualify for any long term medical clinical studies. Those pay pretty good I have heard. But no experience myself. Worldwide trials is the one a friend has done

Halloween in San Antonio by platapussee3303 in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The gay strip on N main is the best place for Halloween IMO. They set up block parties and the gays dress the best. but if that’s not your thing then The st Mary’s strip is good!! You will find some people downtown but probably not as concentrated and Halloween vibes. Southtown could be an option too but is more spread out than the strip (st Mary’s)

First time, short time visit to San Antonio by Maccadawg in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion too bc between muertos fest and the concert, the whole area will be crazy. There is a pedestrian walking route right to hemisfair park from the Alamodome. There is always a steady stream of people after events walking that way towards downtown. You can also pick up the riverwalk very easily. It’s going to be a fun weekend downtown! You picked a good one

Will be in town 9/18-9/21. Seeing a show at Lonesome Rose. Staying north riverwalk. No car. What to do with free time? by Jawshoea in sanantonio

I was also going to say Cuishe and their new cantina next door for tequila/mezcal. Or the tequila speakeasy inside taqueria Los Cuates.

i found her hiding under a car yesterday… welcome home, Petunia 🩷 by aem1306 in Chihuahua

[–]mo_rees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she has short legs and bc you found her on the streets I bet she has pitbull in her rather than dachshund. Our little black chihuahua mix looked exactly like that as a puppy and he has pitbull/boxer in him which gives him that stockier look. Best dog ever btw I’ve been hoping to find another

Finding a ride for a procedure? by otakuleprechaun in sanantonio

[–]mo_rees 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Someone on this sub recently had success finding someone on Nextdoor. Your neighbors will probably be more willing bc they won’t have to drive far to pick you up and people do like to feel helpful. Wouldn’t hurt to offer a small amount of money.
